The BFG is one of Dahl's most lovable character creations. Whether galloping off with Sophie nestled into the soft skin of his ear to capture dreams as though they were exotic butterflies; speaking his delightful, jumbled, squib-fangled patois; or whizzpopping for the Queen, he leaves an indelible impression of bigheartedness. (Ages 9 to 12) --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Tim MadduxOctober 16, 2001 Amazon Review The BFG Roald Dahl's The BFG tells the story of two opposites coming together, becoming friends, and coming up with an idea to save others. The Big Friendly Giant snatches Sophie, a little English girl, from her window, during the witching hour. Sophie and the Giant venture off to Giant Country, where she learns of the other "human bean"-- eating giants and the true personality of the Big Friendly Giant. The two learn many things about each other and devise a way to save the humans of the world from being eaten by the nine other giants. The Big Friendly Giant and Sophie work well with and learn a lot from each other.

The BFG,

This review is from: The Bfg (Hardcover)
The BFG is a much loved book that never loses its power over kids. It's about an orphan named Sophie who meets a Big Friendly Giant and is kidnapped to Giant land. Here she sees ferocious giants and hears terrible tales of their nightly doings. She and the BFG hatch a plot to save the people of the world. A very funny story leading to lots of discussion. Great to read aloud, especially if you use silly voices for the characters. Kids adore it.
