This book was exactly what I was expecting from other reviews. I believe in a natural style of parenting but am by no means the granola-crunching hippie type. It was refreshing to read a book that had similar values to mine but has educated medical professionals backing it up. While I won't be following everything to the letter, this book gives out the message to find your own parenting style; whatever works for you.
What I do like most is how the partner and their role/feelings are just as much a part of the book as mother and baby. I think, too often the father or partner is left on the sidelines when they deserve acknowledgement. We are living in a modern society where fathers/partners want to be as involved as the mother and are looking for resources. This book gives a lot of respect and credit to the partner role, addressing that it is crucial to the baby's well being, and the mother also needs to have time for self care.
I'll give it six thumbs up, from myself, my husband, and my baby.

This is a book on attachment parenting. It has a lot of great ideas and some stuff I don't totally agree with. But, as with everything, take want you want and leave what isn't for you. What I find very, very useful about this book is the detailed explanations about the first moments after birth, the first weeks at home, breastfeeding, and everything that you can see in your baby (from rashes to colds, umbilical cord and circumcision area care, etc.) I haven't read yet after the baby's first six months, but there is information on introducing solid foods, dealing with pets, parenting special needs children. In conclusion, it is very comprehensive book with interesting ideas and really helpful information. I recommend it...a lot!

This book supports breast feeding, carriers/sling, and attachment sleeping, with research and personal experiences to back up their opinions. They emphasize that parents should in the end do "what works" for them. The book was a bit dry to read, but overall i liked that the opinions were backed up by research with references to evidence based journal articles, unlike many books which do not base recommendations on up to date evidence.

I bought this for my son and his wife on the occasion of their first born. It is a good reference book, answers and clarifies the questions they may have. When they 'admitted' they were reading it, I was thrilled, and they seemed pleased that the book offered insight in their journey into parenthood. This is a journey that can use all the help you can get and this book appears to give a lot of insight and preparedness.

You only need to buy one baby book and this is it. He covers almost everything that can happen in the first couple years of life and answers those question in an extremely sane way. Helping you not panic through illnesses and advising you when to call a doctor and what is completely normal.

A must read
