I was extremely happy to find this book, this is exactly the kind of information that is incredibly helpful to someone like me. I really appreciated the data driven approach here, with the kinds of statistics and analyses that give you a much better idea of what is actually going on with baby naming trends. Plus, it gives you a much needed outsider's analysis of the connotations of various names that aren't always obvious to the parents to be.In combination with the author's baby name voyager website, I can HIGHLY recommend this book.

A very well written book with many different name looked at and reviewed. The authpr has brought many colorful topic up for parents to think about when looking for a name thst will not be one of 3 kids in the daycare. It is A little harder to get learn how the book works but it is worth a try.

Not only does this book offer the tradition sections of boys' and girls' names, it also shows popularity trends for each, as well as suggestions for names with similar styles (e.g. if you like Kyra, you may also like Jada and Mara, or Kane and Kameron for boys). There are brief descriptions for each name, as well as potential nicknames derived from the original. Alternate spellings are also suggested. At the end of the book, if this wasn't enough to help you find the name you're looking for, the names are categorized according to style - whether mythological or timeless. A very helpful book for that momentous decision!
