Product Description

About the Author

I grew up always knowing I would be a graphic artist of some sort. My mother instilled the love of drawing and painting in me at an early age. I landed my first job as a graphic artist right out of high school with The Shirt Shed, which was a leader in the imprinted apparel industry at that time. I found the job to be very challenging and rewarding, working on major licenses such as: Looney Tunes, Garfield, Adidas, and many Disney products. I remained in the screen printing field, working for various companies designing and art directing for a total of 20 years. Then I freelance illustrated my first of many Beginner's Bible books. The publisher liked my work enough to hire me as their full time illustrator and move me from Indiana down to beautiful Tennessee, where 10 years later, I'm still illustrating books and various other Beginner's Bible and A Life of Faith products for Mission City Press.

This is a very inviting book that accomplishes two things together: it familiarizes the kids with names and timeless stories from the Bible and it further encourages young children (ages 3-6) to read independently as every page contains only two to five simple sentences. Colorful pictures and smooth storytelling are the excellent features of the BEGINNER's BIBLE and the major stories in Old Testament (from Adam and Eve to Joseph's colorful robe, from the Wise King Solomon to Jonah & the Big Fish) as well as New Testament (from Jesus' birth to His teaching on a mountain, from His parables to His miracles, from His fructification to His risen) are all included. It will fill little children's heart with grace and prepare them for further bible studies.

Reason for Reading: Ds read to me over about the period of a year as his bible reading. We had a schedule where on every Fri. I would put away our usual religious instruction materials and he would lead the lesson by reading for 20 minutes from this book and it would also cover his reader for the day, thus lightening Friday's load. He started the book off managing to read one story per allotted time but by the New Testament he was reading three stories each sitting as a rule. So we watched his reading improve over the course of this book.

This is a very nice first Bible reader for any child who is at that stage of reading and also would make a great read aloud to pre-schoolers. The pictures are very cartoonish, which I'm not too keen on, but ds enjoyed the look of the book very much and never complained about reading from it. A good selection of stories, including all the popular ones, with the New Testament told chronologically. This Bible is from a Protestant point of view and as Catholics we had very little problem with that at all. The OT presented no problems for us and the NT was only conspicuous in what it left out. The only story we needed to talk about afterwards was the story that tells of Jesus telling Peter to "take good care of His people". It seemed to be an afterthought and we discussed the whole real story we've read from the Gospel. Otherwise a decent, good, entertaining, well-written easy reader, for kids to have as their first Bible they can read themselves.

Happy with this book, works well for the attention span a young child has. Slightly frustrating that it misses details, but maybe I'm expecting my kids to pick up to much. Its simplified, and to the point.
i would recommend this for young kids.
My kids LOVE it, and ask for me to read it often, and the pictures are good.

It's never too early to introduce your child to the Good News of our Lord Jesus. I wish there was a Bible like this when I was little.

The Beginner's Bible will be treasured and very much enjoyed as a night-time favourite in your house.

This book has perfect little "stories", each about 3-4 pages long. Beautiful art on every page. This is great for bedtime because "Just one more Mom?" is easy to do : )

I would recommend this Bible to parents of children 3 to 9 years old. It is a great over view of the Bible with colourful pictures. As the child gets older and learns to read, this book has easy to read words so it is a great learning experience also. Well worth the price. I handed these Bibles out to preschool children for years. the parents loved it also.
