Product Description

Canadian thrashers Annihilator are the brainchild of guitarist Jeff Waters, who has been instrumental in the metal scene since debuting with Alice In Hell in 1989. Over the past 15 years, the band has released over 10 albums to both public & critical acclaim, selling records in the hundreds of thousands worldwide. In the '80s & early '90s, there was often a very fine line between "hard rock" & "heavy metal," but with Annihilator, there was never a question - this was most definitely a metal band to the core. Comparable to Metallica & Judas Priest at their heaviest, they took no prisoners, either musically or lyrically. Roadrunner Records has brought together the best of Annihilator on this low-priced BEST OF collection. Taking tracks from classic records such as Never, Neverland, Set The World On Fire & In Command (Live). Although the band has moved on to another label, they are still touring the world & just released a new album worldwide.

Solid "best of" offering with a good range of songs and styles. Highlights are "Stone Wall" & "Phoenix Rising" amongst others. Total of 16 songs which is great. Truly one of Canada's best metal acts of all time. Although there are many hardcore trash songs, the singing has clarity and the bridges and interludes into melodic acoustic riffs keeps it smooth and enjoyable. The only disappointment is that it only covers their earlier albums so if you are into Annihilator's latter stuff, you won't find it here.

Not a complete Greatest Hits Sept. 20 2004
By Lunar Strain - Published on
Format: Audio CD
As you may have already noticed, this so-called "best of" collection only contains material from Annihilator's first three studio albums (Alice In Hell, Never Neverland, and Set the World on Fire) along with a few choice live cuts form the live album In Command. This buy far is not a "complete" best of release. I highly recommend that if your going to get into Annihilator, just buy one of their albums. Go buy the Alice In Hell/Never, Neverland 2 pack by Roadrunner records instead of this. If you don't, you'll just be cheating yourself.
