We have been selecting new authors each year from the Honor Classics.Each author has a unique perspective of the Scriptures and life. We find these teaching very valuable in growing and maintaining focus in our Christian walk. Some of the "Old Men of God" still have a lot to say about how we are living our lives today and missing the mark of perfection.

Funny that George MacDonald would say that. The Scottish novelist, poet and clergyman (1824-1905) had eleven children and authored many popular children's stories. This "gently modernized" collection of devotional writings attests to his vast creative talents and excellence of language. In fact, MacDonald's writing style at first threw me briefly. "What am I biting into?" I asked myself. Before I knew it I was wild about the taste and devoured his word pictures. It is my habit to make gifts to fellow believers of books that tickle me pink. This one I reserved for friends with a keen appreciation for captivating language and sparkling imagery. I love MacDonald's depth and delight in his being different. He has given me a kick in the pants to fully own my creative gifts and distinctive identity as God's "workmanship" of Ephesians 2:10. If you want to be in even better CHILDLIKE company, get a load of these admirers of George MacDonald: J.R.R. Tolkien, Madeleine L'Engle, and C.S. Lewis. The latter said, "I fancy I have never written a book in which I did not quote from him."
