What a beautirul simon and garfankel, April 4 2004
This review is from: The Best of Simon and Garfunkel (Audio CD)
I always do not listen to the music except of Japanese songs. But Simon and garfankel is not the case.
The reason that I do not listen to foreign musics very much is what foreign sounds have not beautiful melodies like Japanese songs. Maybe foreigners will be not able to understand the reason. But the reason is the same that USA people love USA songs than other countries songs.
Simon and garfankel is old singers and broke up. For that young person like me in addition to Japanese have not the chance that listen to Simon. But in Japanese TV drama [ hazy shade of winter] was used. In the unique sounds, I was charmed completely. And more in the last scene of the drama, [bridge over troubled water] was used. The sentimental piano sound of the intro and beautiful meloy and tender voice like wispering was charmed more.
I love [sound of silence] too. When I listen to the song, as if I exist to the calm and cool place as title, that is, not to say about melody, their voices have power of expression so that I am charmed.
Simon and garfankel is one of a few artists that I like in foreing singers and have beautiful sounds like Carpenters.
Thank you for reading poor English.

Best of Simon and Garfunkel, April 12 2010
Excellent CD bringing back fond memories of their wonderful music, great talent and a great era. Timeless. All I expected it to be and more. Was looking for an overall view of their music in a well produced and arranged CD and this is what this CD is. Majority of their hits all together on one CD making for easy reference. Great for reminding me of their great talent before I go to their concert in May.

Best Remastered Issue, July 10 2008
This review is from: The Best of Simon and Garfunkel (Audio CD)
For a truly definitive and distinct collection, this remastered disc really brings out all the nuances and subtleties of all the Simon & Garfunkel classics. With twenty great songs, I have to admit that even the over-played, "Bridge Over Troubled Water" has a new essence and urgency that lacked in earlier recordings. The ambience is so much stronger. "The Sounds Of Silence" and "Old Friends" are so clean that it's actually odd not to hear any background hiss - the vocals and guitars are so crisp. The more upbeat songs like, "Cecilia", "The Boxer" and "I Am A Rock" seem to place more emphasis on the percussion than on earlier recordings. "America" and "My Little Town" make for perfect album closers, as they sum up just about all that Simon & Garfunkel have stood for and cared about for so many decades. For absolutists, the Box Set contains everything, but this disc captures the true sound and essence of Simon & Garfunkel.
