4.0 out of 5 stars Wimps beware. Jan. 28 2008
Format:Audio CD
If you read up on this band, there's not really much I can tell you about them that you don't know. They're notorious for their outrageously violent lyrics and album art, which details such interesting subject matter such as torture, rape, murder, masochism, and combinations thereof. Musically, they are known for straight-up, brutal death metal.

A while back, a friend burnt me a copy of Bloodthirsty. To be honest I didn't find it all that good; there were four or five good songs but the rest of that album struck me as rather boring and same-sounding throughout.

I saw this in a used CD store and through my friend's persuasion, I decided to give it a chance. What I discovered was a pleasant surpised.

You see, I'm not much into death metal aside from Death, Suffocation, Cryptopsy.. but this album is quite good. Sure say what you want about the lyrics, the only point was to make it the metal equivalent of a slasher film, and can you really find an example of that better than Corpse?

The songs are well written, to the point that some are even darkly catchy. The first three songs, are good examples. The vocals are suitably guttural.

The musicianship is excellent - they can play their instruments very well, and if you think otherwise, you're a moron. (Don't argue with this - I've been playing guitar and bass for years and I know good playing when I hear it). Bassist Alex Webster is one of the best bassists in extreme music, bar none. The album sags during the second half, but even then it's decent.

I'm pretty open- minded when it comes to music. I like pretty much any form of metal or rock, except power metal which just plain sucks, emo, indo, nu metal... I love classic rock. I love hardcore. I especially love rap/hip-hop.

5.0 out of 5 stars CC+Chris Barnes+Bleeding=masterpiece May 26 2004
Format:Audio CD
The Bleeding is another classic album from Cannibal Corpse, although this would be the last one they did with cookie monster style vocalist Chris Barnes. This album is best known for the infamous track F**ked With A Knife. Chris's growls on here are a lot more clear, you can understand what he is saying thanks to the good production. It's also the first album to introduce former Malevolent Creation guitarist Rob Barret, as he and Jack Owen together throw some really good riffs. Finger bassist Alex Webster and freinzied drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz keep the rhythm section in a good fast pace. All in all, a must have for death metal lovers. 5 stars Jack.

5.0 out of 5 stars they are nothing without Barnes May 22 2004
Format:Audio CD
This band was so amazing with Chris Barnes, they are still good, but not like they were. This cd amazes me of how badass everybody is vocals, drums, bass, guitar. This and tomb of the mutilated is their best work.

3.0 out of 5 stars I'd like to clear some things up... May 5 2004
Format:Audio CD
Some dude on here who goes by Serj Tankien compares this to System of a Down. Just shut up, okay? They're two completely different forms of metal music (why do you keep referencing to it as rock?). I highly doubt that Chris Barnes and co. are actually necropedophiles, and I'm quite sure many more teens have intentionally overdosed on medications while listening to the chorus of "Chop Suey" than during the breakdown of "Hammer Smashed Face." So just piss off.
But the truth is, Cannibal Corpse is and always will be a rediculous aassemblage of wasted talent. Sure, you can bang your head to it, mosh to it, whatever, but in the end it's trash. The gore-littered lyrics and cookie monster vocals only make the music less intimidating and more silly. So silly, in fact, that it might be worth getting an album of theirs just to have a laugh. Even the modern-day metal superstars System of a Down are musically and lyrically more mature than this.
If you dig this sorta music, though, I'd recommend these great extreme metal titles:

4.0 out of 5 stars Innapropriate... To Say the Least April 16 2004

I simply cannot approve of the nickname "Corpsegrinder." A person of his age and stature simply must have a more appropriate nickname such as "Mr. Corpsegrinder." I mean, come on folks, he is a role model let's have some maturity. Which brings me to my next point which is "Corpsegrinder" simply does not inspire fear in me for corpses are already dead. It would be much better if his name was something like "Babyeater" or "Fetuslicker." If this was changed I would find the album much more enthralling and wonderful but, as it stands, it really leaves a little bit to be desired.

I truly love whenever i see people giving cc a bad review its quite funny to see the reasons they give to why they hate cc's music so much!Anyways The bleeding being C. barne's last effort on cc i think he did an impressive job! All & all, its an deathmetal must have for all fans of this genre! Pick it up!
