I read this book within a few days, the style makes for easy reading, the pages just flow.Kyle is a dole-bludging, no-hoper who drinks and smokes pot too much. Strangely, he likes to work out and stay fit.
Orphaned at birth, he believes the world owes him something. Then a mysterious book appears on Kyle's doorstep,
"We bid you welcome, young Kyle...
It has been brought to our attention that you seem completely lost. If you wish to come to know what it is that constantly eludes you in life... I am your transport to seek within."
And so Kyle embarks on a journey to discover his mission in life, guided by 'Book' and some furry (and not so furry) little elementals.
And what a spectacular journey it is, joining Kyle for the ride, is his best friend Matt and Zoe Nivok. Together, they seek to solve the 20-year-old mystery of the murder of Zoe's parents, and try to save her inheritance (a tract of Rainforest) from the developers at Nivok Industries.
With a tropical rainforest as a backdrop, Aboriginal Mythology and mystery abound, this book is a page-turner from beginning to end, with hints of ecology & Aboriginal Land Rites to top it off. I never knew what would happen next, even the Epilogue was a surprise!
