Etherial, Whimsical, Hopeful, Jan 17 2010
By John Crichton - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Book of Eli (Audio CD)
Few disagree that a great movie must also have a great score that balances but doesn't overpower. The Book of Eli is a fantastic movie, whether you are religious or not. And what makes it so powerful, in large part, is that it is perfectly scored. The electronic reverbs of guitar and piano echo throughout the soundtrack and give it an empty, desolate feel... But a hopeful one. Just like the movie.
Make no mistake, if you heard the music in the movie... It is on this CD. That entrancing guitar at the end of the movie is on the soundtrack. It's all here folks!
However, if you are just looking for that characteristic song that you love from the movie, It's only present on a single track:
"Panoramic" is THAT song. So definitely buy that one!
If you love ambient, electronic music... You will LOVE this soundtrack.
Enjoy!

Powerful Ethereal and Industrial Rock Soundtrack, Jan 19 2010
By Compay - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Book of Eli (Audio CD)
If you are a fan of Ethereal or Gothic Rock from the 80's and 90's, this movie score is right up your alley. The score was produced entirely by Atticus Ross, which is impressive considering this is only the second feature film that he's composed original music for exclusively. Quiet as kept, Ross was himself was 1/2 of a rock band that both opened up for Marilyn Manson, and worked with a variety of other artists like Trent Reznor of NIN. So if you're wondering how a fledgeling movie composer hits the nail on the head composing dark music for a dystopian film, that's your answer.
The tone of the soundtrack ranges from ambient/atmospheric (Blind Faith) to Industrial Rock (The Convoy) reminiscent of Machines of Loving Grace on The Crow soundtrack. If you like electronic music with a dark edge, Industrial Rock, or Ethereal music, you would enjoy owning this soundtrack.

This soundtrack is straight-up awesome. It is completely different from what any soundtrack is expected to be and it succeeds in that area.I bought this immediately after seeing the movie and I have been unable to stop listening to it. It's awesome. Buy it.
