I've had this book for several years, but never got around to reading it. However, now that I've read it I wish that I read it the minute I bought it. The beginning reminded me of 2 books: "The Giver" by Lois Lowry in the sense of Adelrune, the main character, is living in a town dominated by "the rule" and also "Harry Potter" by J.K. Rowling because of the relationship between Adelrune and his foster parents. However, after the first couple of chapters, comparisons end when Adelrune begins an adventure full of magical lands, creatures, and interesting characters. At times I thought that his quest was dragging on for too long, but then it tied up nicely at the end. I would say that the way that Meynard tied up the story in the last 2 chapters is what made me rate this book a 5 star. I would highly recommend it to fantasy lovers. Enjoy!!
