Product Description

Book Description

Randy Maxwell is only twelve years old when he joins millions of other children left fatherless by divorce. Follow his thoughts through letters to his father in this unique novel, as the effects of divorce become painfully real and personal in the broken letter.

About the Author

Carl Lawrence has written six books on persecuted Christians around the world, including the Gold Medallion award winner, The Church in China. He spent twenty years as a missionary with the Far East Broadcasting Company and thirteen years as a speaker for the Haven of Rest Radio Ministry. In this latest novel, he turns his focus to the breakdown of the American family, and the effects of that breakdown on American children.

5.0 out of 5 stars I sobbed when reading this book., May 9 2000
By Kristie Baughman - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Broken Letter: Divorce Through the Eyes of a Child (Paperback)
Being a mother of four boys with an absent father, I felt thisbook might be for me. This book is an "easy read", takingonly a few hours to complete. As I read it, I experienced the pain andlonliness of "Randy" the child of divorce. I saw him react to the absence of his father and pictured my own boys in the same situation. This book provides an intensly honest look at our "Fatherless Generation". We have come to take for granted that all will "work out" without fathers. This story shows, in devastating detail, how children need BOTH parents in their lives. Both mothers and fathers should read this book, whether married, separated or divorced...this book will have a powerful impact on the value you place on the family unit. Our children's lives are at stake!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, Sep 3 2010

I never write reveiwes, but this book was really good. Someone left it at my work, so I decided to read it. As a mother of a child whose dad is rarely around, I found it interesting to read what emotions she may have and doesn't feel comfortable sharing. It really makes you think that there is another kind of support system to help children and family through tough times.

5.0 out of 5 stars a must for any parent, April 10 2009

This book is not for the faint of heart, it grabs the heart and squeezes compassion out. A must read for ANY parent. This book shows divorce as Beautiful Boy shows addiction with no reservations.
