Product Description

Kevin Whately (Inspector Lewis) stars as Jimmy Griffin, an ex-cop turned insurance investigator in this winning British detective series. Jimmy’s cunning and insight are well-suited to the business of exposing con men and other fraudsters. With his police training, he’s able to take on any case, no matter how dangerous. If only he could be as successful in his personal life. Fresh off a divorce from Sally (Annette Ekblom, Holby City) and a breakup with his colleague and mistress, Gabby (Michelle Fairley, Game of Thrones), Jimmy still hasn’t learned when to shut his wandering eyes and turn off his rakish charm. As he struggles to rebuild his family, keeping them safe from the perils of his work proves to be his ultimate test.

Ex-Cop Jimmy Griffin (Kevin Whately) has slid into the role of Insurance Investigator,( Peter Firth) nicknamed Godzilla plays the Insurance Company decision maker that may or may not pay for the retrieval of stolen goods. Jimmy gets himself into lots of dicey situations in these 3 full length films. The stories are absorbing and keep you engaged, personal problems add to the complexity of the plotting. A refreshing look at investigation and the story keeps surprising you as more evidence unfolds. Reminiscent of Raymond Chandler & Ross MacDonald stories as he really can't trust anyone, but has to rely on someone along the way with
frustration and betrayal around the corner. Enjoy the ride with Jimmy as he faces dangers and perils, exposing con men and other fraudsters. Fine performances with colourful backdrops in this original new series.

This is a charming series featuring the man that would go on to play Inspector Lewis in Inspector Morse and his own series of the same name. Good stories, a bit of humor and it also features Michelle Fairley before she went on to star in Games of Thrones.

We are looking forward to series 2 of the Broker's Man, If it as good as the first series then the wait will be worth it. The plots were well written and acted and we thoroughly enjoyed watching each episode, we only wish there had been more.

it took me a while to get Whately's character as he doesn't come across as 'rogue' material but it grew on me. I still prefer him in the detective role though.

Way too much time spent on husband/separated wife conflict ... became juvenile and irritating!
