Can't ...Stop...Headbanging...,
By As Usual "Black Punk" (dallas, tx) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Bronx (Audio CD)
Somehow, I stumbled across a review in FHM, comparing this group to Black Flag. Black Flag, huh? Let's see here. I've blown a lot of money buying cds based on word-of-mouth. I'm a music whore, and that won't change. Anyway, I pick this cd up, on the way to the bar and wasn't prepared. The kick-off song, "Heart Attack American," couldn't be titled any better. This song is like a dynamite fuse, it slowly lights up and then explodes into three minnutes of pure destruction. The best thing is that you get to do this nine more times thoughout the cd! They only let up on the very last song, which still pounds at a slower pace. Explaining every song would take forever. Just expect angry, loud, paranoid, punk rock. With titles like, "I Got Chills," "They will kill us all," you know what to expect. But what sets this album apart is that they sound like their having fun at the same time. The same way you and a friend go out to kick it after a messed up day. Oh, and the Black Flag comparison? Yes, they sound like Black Flag in their prime with theit crunchy guitars and sound distortion, but not in a rip-off sense. These guys got their own thing. Even if you don't like hardcore punk, get it anyway. This is true rock.

I purchased this after hearing one song on a local radio station. Based on that one song, I figured I'd enjoy this but never expected it to be as great as it is. If hardcore punk rawk can swing, then The Bronx do it. Believe the hype and pick up this CD.

The Bronx opened for Poison the Well, and Everytime I Die at a local hardcore show. Needless to say we weren't too thrilled to hear a band called "the bronx". We were just there for the big boys of hxc. We were totally wrong! They blew us away and it was the best fun we've had at a show since I can't remember. They were simply awesome. A must have cd.
