I must say firstly that the player register section is well-researched and accurate and that I highly recommend this book. I publish my own CFL stat books and have for years. I work off WIFU,IRFU,and CFL publications. There are some mistakes there but not many.I work off my own data, but this book is certainly adequate for most-I've put it through its paces and am quite satisfied.
There is only section that needs change. The awards section on page 74-75.You CANNOT equate the Jeff Nicklin and the Jeff Russel with the Most Outstanding Player awards prior to 1973.They were not MOP awards then. The Nicklin was a valuable player award and the Russel was for courage, fair play, and sportsmanship. There are over twenty errors here.An example-Ron Lancaster won the Nicklin in 1968 and 1969 for the West. However, George Reed was the MOP for the West both years and is not listed here as he should be. You can't save space here- you need separate sections for these two trophies and then an MOP section. It's a common mistake if one is not familiar with the histories of the CFL awards.

HASH(0xa5590a98) out of 5 stars The Canadian Pro Football Encyclopedia book (purchased on Amazon) March 26 2012

The Canadian Pro Football Encyclopedia Book VS The CFL Facts, Fogures, & Records Book
First The CFL Facts, Figures, & Records book :The first pages are on the upcoming upcoming CFL schedule, then it shows all of the current CFL teams and their information. Then a page on the CFL draft, and then page 29 through page 200 on CFL players (all presently playing)Then a preview of the 2005 season. Then the awards pages ten in all, with each yearly awardee. With a additional 14 pages of CFL All Star games.34 pages of CFL Records, with five pages on the Grey Cup and six pages on the CFL Hall of Fame. And the na historical time line for three pages, and the CFL standings from 1936 till 2005 seven pages worth. Big question who was the head coach of those 1936 teams? It is not listed in this book. What is listed is the winning and losing head coaches who went to the Grey Cup. But what about the teams that didn't go,incomplete data. Secondly The Canadian Pro Football Encyclopedia : The first page a historical time line with 50 pages of game scores from past to present. And 19 pages of Grey Cup history. followed by 36 pages of awards with historial data,13 pages of all head coaches past to present. With 36 pages of CFL records, and 421 pages of every CFL player from past to present. With a ending of 32 pages on the kickers of the CFL. So its my belief, that the $20 dollars I spent on the first book would have been better spent on the more informative and historical data, including all head coaches and football players, was worth every cent of the $32 dollars that I paid. The best book on the Canadian Football League, EVER. If you want to know anything about the CFL, this is the book to purchase, and find your information from this book. The Canadian Pro Football Encyclopedia: Every Player, Coach and Game, 1946-2010

HASH(0xa5591b40) out of 5 stars a welcome addition to the reference library of any sports fan Dec 26 2011

It took forever for a comprehensive reference work about the CFL to come about, but the wait was worth it. It is a great source of info for sports history junkies like myself. I do notice some mistakes in the attendance figures (I don't think 310,005 fans ere in attendance at one game) and I think that Marc Trestman is given credit for coaching Montreal in 2007 when in fact Jim Popp coached the Als that year. Still an excellent book though.

HASH(0xa5591b94) out of 5 stars about time for cfl encyclopedia Aug. 20 2011

Excellent reference source for the first edition. There are many differences between this source and the CFL Facts, Figures, and Records books. Hopefully if there are future editions 1945 statistics will be included for IRFU and ORFU along with playoff statistics for all leagues.

What a compilation of facts and data. I do research also and can't imagine the time put into this effort. I do high school research and although it did not list high schools for the US based players, I can still use it as a "back door" data base for what I'm doing. From all of us sports encyclopedia junkies, thank you.
