The Canadian Snowbird in America,
By
This review is from: The Canadian Snowbird in America: Professional Tax and Financial Insights into a Temporary U.S. Lifestyle (Paperback)
I am planning my first Snowbird Vacation. This book was recommended to me by a friend who went to Florida this past winter. She said it will answer everything you need to know. She certainly was right! It was written in a way that the average person can understand. You don't need to be a 'financial' type person to get the most from this book. I highly recommend it.

Buying and Investing in U.S. Real Estate,
This review is from: The Canadian Snowbird in America: Professional Tax and Financial Insights into a Temporary U.S. Lifestyle (Paperback)
Buying U.S. real estate is hazardous for Canadians novice in the field. This book provides indispensable information regarding tax consequences, how couples should take title, estate implications, banking strategies, and mandatory forms necessary for opening a U.S. bank account and obtaining a U.S. ITIN (analogous to our social insurance number). Not only is this book a vital resource that is well researched, practical and helpful, but Terry Ritchie, himself, is also most accommodating, available and approachable when called upon to clarify any suggestions, ideas or processes detailed in this outstanding guide. We are presently assessing the viability of purchasing a U.S. property and between this book and the author himself we believe we are saving ourselves, time, money, mistakes and headaches. This book is a must have for any Snowbird contemplating living and investing in the United States!
