Product Description

It was more than an incident. It was a deadly assault across the 38th parallel. It was the Korean War. In the fear and frenzy of battle, those who had served with heroism before were called again by America to man the trenches and sandbag bunkers. From Pusan to the Yalu, they drove forward with commands too new and tanks too old: brothers in war, bonded together in battle as they had never been in peace...

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Winner! Dec 4 1999

Format:Mass Market Paperback
W.E.B. comes through again with a hard hitting fast paced novel. While the entire Brotherhood of war series is a spectecular blend of military action, espionage, and drama The Captians is the pinnacle of the series. The life of Lowell sees so many ups and downs in this book it would make most men fall apart but Griffin portrays these situations so realistically that I couldn't help but feel I was right there and feeling the emotions running through me. The key here is believability and W.E.B. comes through with flying colors. Well Done. Do yourself a favor and read this series, and make sure you take your heart medication before reading this particular book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Series July 26 2001
Format:Mass Market Paperback
With Brotherhood of War, Griffin definitely wrote an excellent series. His candid description of people and events makes you believe that you are a part of the book as well. Once I started this series I read all eight books in record time. The Captains describes our protagonists time in Korea, as well as some very defining moments in the life of Caraig Lowell. Don't miss this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff. July 14 1999

The Captains is another great one from the master, W.E.B. Griffin. I'm one of those guys who prefers the broader range of great war novels like "The Triumph and the Glory" or "The Naked and the Dead", or the Cornwell Sharpe or Aubrey/Maturin books, but The Brotherhood of War books are terrific in their own right and well worth reading, every one of them.

An informed, and detailed look into the careers of the military officers in the Korean war. Check out "the Duke" and his men racing to the link up point, and causing havoc for the enemy.Find out what S.T. Felter is doing, and see what MacMillan is doing now. But read the Lieutenants first and you will be greatly satisfied
