Scott gave me a first run limited edition copy of this book in early 1997. He was a personal aquaintance. The book is a masterpiece to own and treasure. It will take your breath away!

I had first heard that Scott was going to release his collection in book form 6-7 years before it actually happened. I have to say that when it actually arrived, I wasn't disappointed. I went to the book signing at Mandolin Brothers. Scott and I talked at length about our passion for guitars. He actually let me play a few of his vintage pieces including a 19th century Martin. He signed my book, we took a few pictures together, & he invited me to his museum. If you are at all a fan of great guitars, this book is for you. It's got examples from past to present, sublime and far out, or just plain stunning like the D'Angelico Teardrop of which I have also played. The book just leaves me speechless. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves guitars. I was saddened to hear of Scott's passing, but having this book brings back the great time I had with him. Scott was a great guy.

The most important book ever on American Guitars, this book is truly THE history of American Guitars. All of the guitars shown in this book are beyond compare - they all set the standard for all of our guitar paradigms. As a kid i was just mesmerized by watching George Harrison ripping effortlessly unbelievable riffs on his Grestch-ky. From that day, I became an incurable guitar-holic. Every guitar shown in this priceless book is historically significant and the pictures are just orgasmic. In our world, it is truly the people & personalities we remember the best - and all of the legendary builders are here in this book. Heaven for myself sits on my bookshelf in a slipcase! Thank You Mr. Chinery, you have given the guitar world a blessing from above, Aloha!
