Review

"Salvatore shows . . . intelligence in using the classic elements, a pleasant dry wit and a narrative gift."-- Publishers Weekly

Product Description

New York Times best-selling author R. A. Salvatore's beloved Cleric Quintet novels, now in a trade paperback.

R.A. Salvatore's Cleric Quintet tells the story of the scholar-priest Cadderly, plucked from the halls of the Edificant Library to fulfill a heroic quest: to stop the chaos curse unleashed upon Faêrun.

This one-volume collection includes all five of the original Cleric Quintet novels--Canticle, In Sylvan Shadows, Night Masks, The Fallen Fortress, and The Chaos Curse--complete and unabridged, with an introduction by the author. The Cleric Quintet is the prequel to R.A. Salvatore's best-selling novel, The Ghost King.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, Aug 6 2011
This review is from: The Cleric Quintet: Collector's Edition (Paperback)
I've read a lot of fantasy novels, and this outranks the others by far. Great story, amazing characters (at last a cleric for a main character!!), lovable companions, every good element is reunited in a perfect book. I was sad when I finished the book, I wanted it to last way longer. Three thumbs up for the Cleric Quintet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, but the writting could be a little better, July 28 2011
This review is from: The Cleric Quintet: Collector's Edition (Paperback)
The story is fantastic. Those who loved Drizzt (I did) will also love this series. Alas, though the plot is realistic (as much as a fantasy book can be !) and the characters funny and believable, the quality of the writing could be improved upon. I said the same thing about the Drizzt series. It's written in everyday English, with no fancy words or sentences. I enjoyed it (how can someone not enjoy those stories, even though I'm not a D&D player), but, again, found the writing a little plain. It could have done with more flourish. Nonetheless, it is a very good series.

This review is from: The Cleric Quintet: Collector's Edition (Paperback)
I'd have given this series a 5/5 if I hadn't read the Dark Elf series (Salvatore) which I like better. The characters are unique and well written. I especially enjoy the druid ("doo-dad") dwarf Pikel and his brother Ivan, they are hilarious. The main characters in the Cleric Quintet appear in the Dark Elf novel "Passage To Dawn" (Legacy Of The Drow)in which they play a huge role in the storyline.

If you've read the Drizzt (Dark Elf) books then you'll have to read these books. I wish Salvatore would continue with more Cleric books, Cadderly and the gang can easily have more adventures!
