This review is from: The Clique Summer Collection #5: Claire (Paperback)
Sadly, this is the last book in the fabulous CLIQUE SUMMER COLLECTION series. It really ends with a bang, however!Claire is back in Florida with her old best friends, and then Massie shows up. How can Claire handle having a group of friends that are not as popular as she is now, and Massie (who makes Westchester look like a snob town) in the same place? And on top of all that, Claire is asked to judge a competition that she grew up wanting to be a contestant in. The same one in which all four of her friends are going to be a part of. How do you pick a winner? Claire is very much herself in this novel, and even though this was not my favorite of the series, it had a fabulous ending and wrapped up the summer excellently. If you liked the rest of the Summer collection from the Clique, you'll love this one. Claire is back in Florida with her FBFF's, and things are not as she remembers. Her friends have turned into dorks! But wait - maybe it's Claire that's changed?Throwing a wrench into the mix is Massie's visit. Massie couldn't care less whether Claire gets to stay best friends with her Florida peeps too, and she is in fine form as she shows the backwards Floridians how The Clique does things. If you've ever had to re-examine friendships or your own values, you'll appreciate this book. It's light and fun, and just what I hoped for from the latest in the Summer collection.

My Review,

This review is from: The Clique Summer Collection #5: Claire (Paperback)
The book I read was The Clique Summer Collection: Claire by Lisi Harrison. The book is realistic fiction, and has 134 pages. In the novel Claire is enjoying her summer in her home town, with her old friends. Giggling, dancing, and secret telling. This was all so natural until disaster strikes. Claire's friends ask to join the annual Miss Kiss pageant. The pageant sounds like fun, except it is known for tearing friendships apart with its fierce competition. To make problems worse, the Miss Kiss association asks Claire to be the special judge this year! All the contestants are begging for Claire to vote for them. The job gets even harder when Claire's snotty friend from New York, Massie, surprisingly shows up at Claire's house. Massie hated all of Claire's friends and to prove it she joined the Miss Kiss pageant too! Who will Claire vote for? This book can be important to the world because there is a always tons of competition happening all over. This book can help because you need to accept all competitors and be fair. If you are not fair with others someone always finds out. For example, in the novel it says, "Did you fix the contest? Your judge days are over Miss Lyons" (117). This quote shows that if you are not fair in life bas things happen to your reputation. I really enjoyed this novel. I loved how Lisi Harrison created the voice of Massie through her word choice. I also liked the plot line. My favorite part was the ending because it really taught a lesson about cheating and fairness. However, this novel had some weaknesses. Such as, the word choice wasn't challenging at all. I believe that every book has to make you think. This book however required little thought. I also didn't like the poor descriptions of Claire's viewpoint. The book focused more on what Claire was doing as a protagonist rather than what she was doing to stop the antagonist. I did like this book but would recommend it to people looking for an easy read. For example in the text it says, "Claire hurried to open the front door standing back to allow the delivery man to wheel the box into the small foyer" (26). This is an example of the simplicity becayse it is lacking a decription of the delivery man, therefore my image wasn't clear. Overall, I believe that this book was fun to read but lacked details
