I pre-ordered this book at Amazon's recommendation, and in the interim waiting for it, familiarized myself with the Colette line, and was an instant fan! The designs are classically inspired, timeless and elegant, and appeal to a wide variety of sewists, from beginner to advanced.

The book is no exception. It is gorgeously designed, and the instructions are clear and concise. Even for someone who has sewing experience, it invites you to try new techniques and revisit your methods on everything from pattern marking, to wardrobe design, to fitting and customization; it breathes new life into the most mediocre tasks and invites you to become excited about every aspect of your sewing experience once again :)

I am incredibly excited to start making absolutely everything in this book, and I know I'll be making more than one of each - the patterns are that lovely, just like the rest of the Colette collection :)

I am so impressed with The Colette Sewing Handbook. I discovered Colette first on-line when researching how to make some simple alterations. I was impressed by the timeless designs and easy-to-understand instructions. After looking at some individual patterns in a local shop, I knew that I had to order this book.

It is great for those new to sewing, who might have taken a course, and would like to make something for themselves.

If only all how-to books were this complete!

This book is a fantastic reference and go to guide for everyone that wants to sew their own clothes. It has great instructions for altering patterns and is very well written and easy to read. I sat down and read it cover to cover as soon as it arrived. The patterns in it are just a fantastic bonus too!

Like so many other people, I'm deeply in love with Colette Patterns! I love the blog, I love the styling, and most of all, I LOVE how user-friendly all the patterns are! This book was one of my most anticipated Christmas gifts, and it hasn't let me down.

For a beginner or intermediate sewer, the handbook is a great overview of fabric types and sewing techniques. I really enjoyed the sections on recognizing and celebrating your own personal style, and how to sew clothes that you actually want to wear! All of the patterns are cute and interesting, but still simple enough for anyone to try. I've already made a few garments from the book - and now that the handbook has helped me alter and adjust them to fit just right, I'm looking forward to adapting them again as wardrobe basics! The instructions were all perfectly clear... but it's great to also have the community forum through the Colleterie website that allows to you get advice and share ideas with other Colette fans.

This is a great book, and won't just gather dust on your shelf! I highly recommend it!

some of the pattern photos look sloppy and I'm not into the constant use of silks, chiffons, etc. This book has good info on different types of fabrics, seams, etc though. But it sits in my drawer and I use it more for reference.
