Book Description

Fasting for days, or even weeks, while drinking a lemonade-like blend of clear spring water, cayenne pepper and citrus juice has proven to be a safe, simple and yet powerful way to cleanse the body of toxins. This book goes beyond basic information on how to do the cleanse-which can be learned in minutes-by guiding readers step by step through the entire cleansing process. The Complete Master Cleanse describes what to expect day by day during the fast, including normal physiological changes as well as possible signs of trouble. The author draws on her years of experience helping people successfully detox to provide essential tips on making the fast go smoothly and advice on how to gain maximum benefit

4.0 out of 5 stars Popular and simple detoxification method, Sep 26 2007
This review is from: The Complete Master Cleanse: A Step-By-Step Guide to Maximizing the Benefits Of the Lemonade Diet (Paperback)
This lemonade-like blend of water, lemon juice and cayenne pepper is actually a rather popular and simple detoxification method. I've been using it for 12 days and the results are great. Of course I lost a lot of weight but that is not mine concerns. The important think is that I feel rejuvenated light and empowered. I don't only feel great physically but my mood has also improved tremendously. Staying on the program requires some will power during the first two or three days. After that it is not that difficult. I didn't feel that hungry any more, but I missed the pleasure of enjoying a meal, especially at the dinner time...

As much as I like this book as a good source for general body cleansing, I find it a little one-sided. There are a number of other good cleansing methods that concentrate on specific body parts such as liver, kidneys, bones and joints, etc. A very good reference for these cleansing programs is a book titled "Can We Live 150". In the other book titled "Cure the Incurable" the author focuses on home-made remedies designed to not only cleanse your body but to also fight some incurable diseases such as diabetes, cancer, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!, Oct 8 2008
This review is from: The Complete Master Cleanse: A Step-By-Step Guide to Maximizing the Benefits Of the Lemonade Diet (Paperback)
After "trying it all" (you name it, I've tried it) in the world of diets in an attempt to control my out of control menopausal weight gain, I've decided I really have nothing to lose, except those pounds, and gave this one a try. I only did 5 days (plan to do the full 10 after Thanksgiving) but I am astounded by the changes I can see and feel.
I have indeed dropped about 6 lbs so far and roughly 1.5 dress sizes but I was also able to completely walk away from my serious addiction to coffee - something I have been unsuccessful in trying for years.

Although I have read the book(let) by Stanley Burroughs called "The Master Cleanser with Special Needs and Problems" as a starter book to this cleanse, I believe, if you want the whole picture, Tom Woloshyn's "The Complete Master Cleanse" is a must.

After reading Tom's book, I knew exactly what to expect, what possible "side effects" (the good and the bad, there was no ugly) I will most likely struggle with, and what to do about them.
I admit, the first two days were a nightmare - the headache was excruciating and I was turning the proverbial "queen b*tch" but I continued with the cleanse. On day 4 I felt better than I have felt in years!

This book was a total eye opener when it comes to diets/fasts. The author's knowledge is presented in an easy to read, no-nonsense, straightforward way. No gimmicks or BS, everything "adds up" and makes a whole lot of sense.
Get it. You will not be disappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Makes some good points, Aug 6 2010
This review is from: The Complete Master Cleanse: A Step-By-Step Guide to Maximizing the Benefits Of the Lemonade Diet (Paperback)
I've done the Master cleanse twice and other also other types of cleanses as well. The Master Cleanse was my first cleanse I ever did and it improved my life a lot. I lost weight, had more energy, and could think more clearly. It didn't clear up certain health issues though (it takes a lot more than 1 or 2 cleanses to do that).

Tom starts out by telling us that most people do the Master Cleanse wrong, by making up the lemonade ahead of time, whereas it should be made fresh or a concentrate can be made up, which he gives the recipe for. I fail to understand what is so wrong about making up the day's lemonade each morning, which worked fine for me. He does mention other ways that people do the cleanse wrong, which I agree with.

He also recommends a type of water which I think is extremely unhealthy; I think distilled is best.

I think that powdered cayenne is hard on the body and I will use small amounts of herbal liquid cayenne if I do the Master Cleanse again. I'm not sure whether or not the author would be open to this idea.

On the upside, he addresses some of the pitfalls that one could run into and what to do about them.

Overall, for the savvy health-oriented person, reading "Master Cleanser" by Stanley Burroughs or, even better, "Healing for the Age of Enlightenment" by Stanley Burroughs should give you more than enough information in order to complete the Master Cleanse. I'd also highly recommend reading Arnold Ehret "Mucusless Diet" and "Rational Fasting".

These authors who write books on fasting do us a disservice when they fail to caution us that for a person who is weak/ill/very toxic, fasting can release the poisons into the blood too quickly and cause extreme illness or even death. That's why I like the Ehret books, as he addresses this and explains how to deal with it and still fast to become healthy.

This author is doing his best to help people heal and has some good points but the book could have been a lot better, so I've rated it a 3. I would have rated it 3 1/2 stars if my computer would have let me.
