Must Buy -Songs are updated/modified for this concert, April 13 2006
By A Customer
This review is from: The Corrs: All the Way Home, A History Of The Corrs - Plus Live in Geneva (DVD)
First off the songs- if you already have all the other concert DVDs you will not be disappointed with the song selection. Most, if not all, songs have been updated in this Live in Geneva concert. So even if you've seen the older songs many times it will still feel new. No complaints here. Very nicely done. 2nd area that needs mention. When the concert opens and up comes Andrea- Wow!!! She's wearing a black lace/see-through blouse, short skirt. Only later on did I realize Andrea was wearing fishnets. I've never seen Andrea in fishnet. Absolutely stunning outfit though somewhat ruined by the camera direction or editing. More on the camera next. Sharon is wearing a form fitting skirt. More jaw dropping. Major complaint, annoyance, and disappointment is the camera angles. If you own the Landsdown concert the camera direction or editing is essentailly the same in this concert, IMO anyways. THe camera is either so far zoomed out that you can barely see any of them or else it is zoomed up so close that you will miss out on the gestures/movement the Corrs make. This is especially true of Andrea. Whenever Andrea is jumping, swirling around in circles the camera goes somewhere else as if on purpose. If you saw the Live in London concert for the song "Old Town", Andrea shakes her hips during the song but in this concert you know she is shaking her hips but you only get to see Andrea's face. Andrea also shakes(for lack of a better word) her body at other times in the concert, however, viewers will miss out because in all of those instances the camera is plastered on Andrea's face and shoulders upward; so the viewer knows what Andrea is doing but you cannot actually see it. Andrea also swirls around in circles quite a bit in this concert but once again the camera either moves somewhere else or you only see her face/shoulders up. Camera operators how about showing a 3/4 shot(not the correct term but one where the viewers can see relatively close all or most of Andrea head to toe) where we can see Andrea skipping, swirling, shaking her body. Your front row cameras did that 3/4 shot when Andrea was just standing there why not when she was skipping and moving? My suggestions to the Corrs or producers is to use multiple viewing angles like how it was done in the Live in London concert or hire some personal camera operators who will more or less have an idea when Andrea(and the others like Sharon) will be moving around and gesturing so that there can be a balance between up close face shots and that 3/4 shot I mentioned. I say use the Live at Royal Albert Hall and Live in London concerts as a reference on camera angles that won't annoy the viewer because this concert the viewer will miss out on a lot of what Andrea is doing while the camera is focusing on something else for who knows what reason.

Thumbs up on documentary, thumbs down on concert, Sep 14 2008
This review is from: The Corrs: All the Way Home, A History Of The Corrs - Plus Live in Geneva (DVD)
True Corrs fans will consider the price of this product worthwhile for the History DVD alone, which is fascinating. It has everything you could want to know, including interviews and performance video right from the earliest days of the band. As for the concert DVD, true, it is nice to see concert performance of the Borrowed Heaven material, and I must say Sharon looks even more fetching as a blonde, but I must alas confirm the comments of another reviewer about camera angles. Basically, they suck. It seems like this whole concert was approached as if it were an MTV ad, with shots lasting 2 to 3 seconds max (especially bad on the instrumental numbers) and the camera jumping all over the place for no clear reason. The video on some shots visibly shakes, as if a hand-held camera were being jostled. In places the video just goes absolutely haywire and should have been edited out. In places they cut to black-and-white: why, god only knows. It all makes for an extremely infuriating viewing experience. Another thing: Caroline is back, but only in a minor role: on secondary drums and bodhram. She doesn't get much camera attention. Her role here is the total opposite of her powerhouse performance on Live in London, where she's like a force of nature on the drums. Final verdict: Get it for the History DVD, but if you see Live in Geneva being sold on it's own, don't bother. Live in London is far to be preferred (as is the Royal Albert Hall, from what I hear).

The Corrs Rock!, April 8 2007
This review is from: The Corrs: All the Way Home, A History Of The Corrs - Plus Live in Geneva (DVD)
I've been a fan of the Corrs since their first album and love their DVDs. The documentary is very well done and has footage from before they started and follows their creative process and how they became the band they are now. Unfortunately the concert DVD falls short, they had a bad person mixing the DTS and 5.1 tracks, at times the sound is very weak and it seems like Andrea is sings but you can't hear the drums or bass. If your new to the Corrs or want to see their concerts stick with the Lansdowne Road or Unplugged DVDs, both of them are amazing.
