There are a great many versions of the Bible out there, including a variety of translations, which of course means "interpretations". For Catholics, who accept a longer "canon" of the scriptures, the choices are somewhat fewer. And for a highly readable version, in modern English, that flows nicely on either the mind or the tongue, the New Revised Standard Version is an excellent choice for serious study, devotional reading, or simply getting to know the Christian scriptures. I have a number of different Bibles around, but this is the best multi-purpose one I've come across, and is very accessible, yet not simplistic. Highly recommended for the modern student of the scriptures.
