If you can get by the obvious errors its an okay movie. Right at the beginning when they are stuck in the basement of a bar for 3-4 days they all come out with no beards, hair styled and moosed, the girls clean and very nice hair all in place, not a strand out of place. Soooo where did they pee and crap?

Most of the actors are terrible - too fake.

I did love the electric monsters - out of the box - gotta love that!

I don't know why it got such bad reviews. I think it was an entertaining Sci-fi story. Sure, the young American kids stuck in the middle of Moscow are going to be the heroes, but for the most part, as young people they acted as young people would act. Nobody ended up being super smart, super strong or super anything, they just tried to hang on and survive. Having a sci-fi story take place in a Moscow was great as that put the kids and the viewer out of their element. The cinematography was excellent and the special effects were done very well, especially the scenes where people got vaporized by the invaders. I like the fact that invaders just appear, no explanation, no justification, no communication, no anticipation... BOOM they just show up. That's probably how it would be in a real invasion.

Now I don't know the science behind the Faraday cage or whether it would protect them as shown in the movie as some viewers have complained but I know that the concept of the Faraday cage is used to protect sensitive electrical equipment against static electrical discharges and lightning strikes so as far as I'm concerned it sounds plausible to me. This is science fiction not science fact...chill out!

I would say if you are looking for a good escapist Sci-fi that's takes you out of your element by being set in Moscow, and that contains great cinematography, with good special effects and loaded with some quirky Russians, you could do a lot worse.

This film wasn't quite what I expected but I gave it some latitude and while it wasn't the slickest production,it did have enough going for it that I did enjoy it. The locations being shot in Moskow were interesting and it made the best of a modest budget, I would say. As a sci-fi fan I am open to most scenarios and story telling styles so I would say that I rate it up with Cloverfield and the like. I didn't recognize the actors but they were believable enough that I followed the story along with them...... You might enjoy this one as well!......
