5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best British Punk Albums Ever. Jun 10 2004
By Harry K
Format:Audio CD
If you go to the "lowest rated reviews" part of this page, you'll find some (...) called Gilmour from Ontario blabbing on about how only America "got" punk and how British punk was rubbish. This is the biggest pile of utter crap I have heard in a long time. Punk wasn't and isn't about patriotism, it was about breaking down those kind of barriers. Punk began in Britain with The Pistols and The Clash, not in the USA with the Ramones, who were simply an average rock n' roll band grouped in with punk because it was trendy to be so. I agree that American punk was great, but how can you say Britain never "got" it when the country gave birth to it? Anyway, enough about that tosser, this album is simply brilliant with the best songs in an album of great songs being "Mickey Mouse is Dead", "Minority" and "Black and White". The Subhumans sound like a more intelligent, musically talented (...) Pistols, but without losing any of the anger, energy and vitriol that made the Pistols so great. So go and buy this, and forget what Jason Gilmour has said, as he considers himself a hardcore punk rocker but also reviews children's books and is heavily into Lord of the Rings.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Punk Rekids ever made April 20 2004
Format:Audio CD
Although this album has many low points; it is probably one of the best punk albums that came out of the early 80s English scene. The reason for this album's greatness is simple: it is fast, angry and really, really catchy. Looking from a strictly objective point of view this is all that you would want in a punk record. There are 16 songs so of course some of them are not really all that great, but almost every single one of them is memorable. I haven't listened to this record for a good few months, but I can still recount the chorus of almost every single song on this album.
When listening to this record it is most important not to forget that this is a punk record and punk rock is a somewhat limited genre, so it can be said that this band did everything they could with the provided resources.
I do not give five star reviews often, however this record surely did deserve the rating that I gave it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remember a great punk band! April 5 2004
Format:Audio CD
Hey, the Subhumans aren't the best known punk band on the planet but it's kinda hard now when Good Charlotte or Simple Plan are leading the punk scene! Well, I gotta say, the day that the country died is a punk record by the book, an essential record without any boring moments, if you're an Anti-Flag, I think you will like this CD!
