HASH(0xb23dfac8) out of 5 stars Detoxify Your Life Nov. 11 2014
By Rocker1112 - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I've tried plenty of cleanses and diets in the best that were supposed to help get my body functioning at peak power. Without fail, though, the cleanses and diets worked only marginally or they didn't work at all. Most of the time they just made me sick! With The Detox Prescription, however, I've finally found something that actually works for me. Eliminating all the harmful toxins from my body has been a game changer. I've slept better, I've felt more clear-headed, and I've even lost some weight in the process. The Detox Prescription is easily one of the best purchases I've ever made, and I just wish I'd gotten my hands on it sooner. For the last few years, I'd been feeling lethargic and I'd also been gaining weight. I just didn't seem to have the energy. After the 21-day cleanse, however, I have never felt better. I feel totally rejuvenated and like I can face each and every day with joie de vivre.

I also recently added a new guide to my list of important books. Simple Natural Cures: Cheap & Effective Remedies for Everyday Common Ailments is one of the most valuable books on my Kindle. Many of the natural cures featured in the book are in line with the Detox Prescription. They also treat a wide array of ailments including fevers, coughs, colds, headaches, stress, and even eczema. Some of the cures rely on foods or herbs and others rely on "mind-body medication" and moisturizers. I know that during and after the cleanses on the Detox Prescription, I have used many of these cures with only positive effects to speak of. The best part, of course, is that all the cures are 100% natural. You don't have to worry about messing up your cleanse by adding potentially toxic pharmaceutical drugs.

If you're looking for a way to revitalize your life, boost your energy, and jump start your weight loss, then the Detox Prescription may be just what the doctor ordered. It is one of the most comprehensive and scientifically sound cleanses I have ever come across. I feel healthier, happier, and more active and I have both the Detox Prescription and Simple Natural Cures to thank for that. I can only hope that more people follow my example if they want to feel good.

HASH(0xb226dc24) out of 5 stars Great Detox! Jan. 23 2014
By Brooklyn1044 - Published on
Format: Hardcover
I have really have appreciated this whole process. I was most worried about the first 3 days, but ended the 3 days ready for more juicing and smoothies. I really never had issues with hunger. I did, however miss eating food. I am currently, 8 days into the detox and feeling great. I am sleeping much better, feeling clear headed, I have less mucus, and most importantly I feel like I have started forming some great NEW eating habits. I did a detox last year. I was really only given a list of foods to avoid and foods to eat. Instead of recipes/meal plans/snacks/calorie goals (like this book). Having meals to chose from has really helped make this detox more enjoyable and successful. I have some key suggestions that I think would really help the book and experience. If these issues were figured out I would definitely give it a full 5 stars.

1. The book needs better organization. It is currently written as if it were a novel. However on this detox you a always looking back at other previous list, recipes, tips, etc. In it's current form it is very hard to find things you have previously read as they are woven into the text. (Nut milk recipes, list of suggested snacks, the rainbow of foods list, meal plans, etc...) If the book had perhaps, some color coding or different organization (recipe section) it would be easier to look back and find these items. Currently I have added tabs, because I got so annoyed skimming pages to find stuff. Perhaps people that buy the book can sign up their email, and get a electronic list of recipes sent to them. Something. Especially if customers ever plan to use some of these recipes later.

2. The menu caters more to people that eat sweets. If I was a person that thought a bowl of cereal was my favorite breakfast, then these recipes would work perfectly for me. I am a egg and hot sauce in the morning, prefer-savory-foods-type of person. I have had to find other vegan recipes to substitute. Even the soups are pretty sweet. The book offer tips/ideas for people that miss their sweets, but doesn't offer ideas for people that prefer salty-savory foods. Especially having come from the 3 day juice detox part. There was only one smoothie the whole 3 days that was more savory. On day 4, I could not imagine having a sweet breakfast of banana, almond butter and a corn tortilla. I made substitutions based of the suggested lists of veggies that matched my palette better.

HASH(0xb226dd2c) out of 5 stars Changed the way we eat, permanently! Feb. 4 2014
By Summer Stevens - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This book was on display at my local library and I picked it up on a whim. My husband has not been feeling well for months and we just couldn't quite figure it out. I read the book and we started out with the 3 day cleanse. The first day was tough but by the end of the 3 days, he felt pretty good and we decided to move onto the 7 day detox plan. Now, we are NOT vegan or vegetarian so the food choices were a real challenge at first. I feel like I'm learning to cook in a totally different way. I've always considered myself somewhat of a healthy eater, but this is totally different. What has been the biggest surprise is that the recipes are filling, satisfying and flavorful. Honestly, we feel great! My husband says he feels better than he has in months. He is a country boy from Pennsylvania, and loves flavorful food, and he has loved most of the recipes. We have three kids 5 and under and they do pretty well, too, with the new types of food.

It is a LOT of cooking and prep. After a couple of weeks, I'm a little more used to the recipes and it isn't taking me as long, but be prepared for a lot of chopping and sautéing and cleaning up.

I just finished another shopping trip for the 21 day cleanse (which basically is a way of life), and I'm excited about it. We will not be vegans or vegetarians ever, but this book was incredibly helpful to cleanse our systems and to develop some new eating habits that are not so dependent on meat and dairy. When my book is due back at the library, I'll probably buy it on amazon because the recipes are so tasty.

My first shopping trip I went to Whole Foods and bought mostly organic and it was pretty expensive. However, I've cut back on most of the organic foods and found I can get most items at Winco. I'll buy organic when I can, but even if you don't you can still see tremendous benefit.

Definitely recommend!

HASH(0xb2f7a99c) out of 5 stars Detox review Jan. 30 2014

The information is wonderful, but it is very expensive to follow the menus. Unless you already eat an organic and healthy diet there are numerous items you are not going to have in your pantry. After the first week I started tweaking recipes and looking for substitutions. Although I love beans, I got really tired of them. The soup recipes are wonderful. Several of the smoothies were undrinkable for my 32 year old daughter, and I had to chug them to get them down. We each lost about 3 lbs. over the 3 week period.
Overall it made me more aware of what and how much I eat. I will continue to use this as a lifestyle guide for making food choices for the rest of my life.

HASH(0xb1eb97b0) out of 5 stars This book changed my life March 30 2014

I am a holistic nutritionist and this book changed my life. I was having horrible pain in my fingers and had tried all supplements, oils, diets, etc to fix it and nothing seemed to work. Before reading this book, I had already given up land-dwelling animals, dairy, breads, pasta and potatoes. I had been checked for gluten-intolerance and was told I was tolerant. I had come to the end of my rope and decided I was going to do a cleanse/reset and see what happened from there. I read about this book in a magazine and ordered it before it came out. I followed it exactly and within 3 days my fingers stopped hurting. Although I had already given up so much food, I had not given up gluten, particularly in seitan which was a staple in my diet. Now, that I have completed the cleanse, I do my best to stay away from gluten, and always can tell when it slips into my diet. Since I do the majority of cooking in the house, my husband has, by default, become gluten-free as well. Mid-way through the book, he decided he was going to have gluten one morning. I took my daughter to school and came back to find him with a terrible headache and feeling horrible because of the gluten. He's a convert. As another benefit, I lost 10 pounds.
My only recommendation for the book is to make all the recipes the same serving size. Preferably like four or two. I found I was giving food away because there was too much. Towards the end of the book, I started reducing the recipes.
I recommend this book to everyone who is looking to make a BIG change. If you are going to do it, go all-in.
