Book Description

March 2005
If you could go back in time...and witness any event...where would you go? When Dr. Tom Greenbaum faces that question after successfully discovering the secret to time travel, he knows the time, place and event he will witness: the death and failed resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Dr. David Goodman, Tom’s colleague and closest friend follows Tom into the past, attempting to avert a time-space catastrophe, but forces beyond their control toss them into a dangerous end game where they are tempted by evil characters, betrayed by friends, pursued by an assassin from the future and haunted by a demon that cannot be killed.

"Jeremy Robinson’s novel, The Didymus Contingency, blends the cutting-edge science of Crichton with the religious mystery of the Left Behind series to create his own unique and bold thriller. It’s a fast paced page turner like no other. Not to be missed!" -- James Rollins, international bestselling author of Ice Hunt, Sandstorm and Map of Bones

Fans of Michael Crichton, James Rollins, Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child and Frank Peretti should feel at home within the pages of The Didymus Contingency. Related titles include: Timeline, Map of Bones and The Da Vinci Code.

Subjects covered by the book include: time travel, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, altering time, demons, miracles, faith, Doubting Thomas, Didymus, the disciples, miniature robotics, assassins, quantum physics and atheism.

Product Description

From the Publisher

This is the first novel by Jeremy Robinson, who also authored The Screenplay Workbook. For a first novel this is a bold step into the world of fiction. The story is both engrossing and thoughtful, religious yet worldly and takes a fresh look at the events surrounding the death of Jesus Christ.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a thriller at all Aug 25 2007
By Mary S.
Format:Paperback
The Didymus Contingency is not really a novel but a Christian polemic couched in the form of fiction. I was looking for a time travel adventure and was very disappointed when I started to read it. It becomes immediately apparent from the first few chapters that the book's main role is to promote a belief in Jesus Christ - that is fine if that is what you want to read - but the book is positioned as a thriller and I think it is misleading to readers. The book is not well written - the third person narration is stilted, and characters are reduced to stereotypes (there is a particularly negative portrayal of Africans as blood-thirsty murdering animals speaking pidgin English - most distasteful.) Not much can redeem this book in my view.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Innovative & Provocative Thriller Jun 26 2005
Format:Paperback
Science, Religion, Action & Romance - there's something for everyone here. The book moves fast, and though he's really a secondary character, it paints a wonderfully vivid and unique portrait of Jesus. Far from the pale, victimized postcard Jesus that so many find a turn-off, here he's a vital, strong, compelling man with a great sense of humor. Somebody who not only doesn't come over as preachy, but a guy you might enjoy knocking back a few brews with.

Yet he doesn't hijack the novel from the adventures of Tom and David, our main characters, who had us rooting for them both. There were some great twists and turns, and the ending was both satisfying, and fit with the story and characters. (P.S. - I want one of those watches!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Didymus Contingency! May 14 2007
Format:Paperback
Best book I've read to date. As soon as I started I couldn't put it down. It's fast paced, but at the same time thought provoking. Given the subject matter I expected something totally serious, but the book has a sense of humor on top of fast-paced action, historical detail and some surprising plot twists. Enjoyed it immensely.

1.0 out of 5 stars Heavily christian, no science, no thrill.
A badly written and edited book that feels a lot more like a religious pamphlet than a sci-fi thriller. Read more
