Product Description

Use the symbology of the elements to help understand your life.

How the Tarot began is not known. Many suggest that it evolved from an ancient book containing the prototype of a perfect spiritual journey. Others see it as an extension of astrology and celestial interpretations. And some view it as merely a game with uncanny relevance to life and life events. The Elemental Tarot is the perfect distillation of all these thoughts. An extraordinary deck of full-color cards, it revitalizes centuries of mystical ideas and generations of symbolic designs. No matter how you choose to use it, may its beauty and meaning serve to heighten your own awareness of life and its possibilities.

The Elemental Tarot contains:

* Twenty-two allegorical cards representing the Major Arcana
* Fifty-six illustrated Minor Arcana cards divided into four suits
* Easy-to-comprehend symbols requiring no memorization
* 128-page instructional book featuring meanings and interpretations of each card
* Three classic card layouts plus sample readings

2.0 out of 5 stars Great deck, poor production, April 14 2002

This review is from: The Elemental Tarot (Paperback)
I have the original 1988 version of this deck and it is far superior. The new edition is on flimsier card stock, and the cellophane wrappers around the cards were stuck TO the cards due to an excess of glue. So I have 2 damaged cards with white spots where the color was removed with the wrappers. Also, the book has a front cover that is over twice as wide as the back cover....ostensibly to wrap around the cards and hold them. In practice, the cards won't stay there without 2 large rubberbands, and when you are trying to use the book you have a big piece of cardboard flapping around and getting in the way. All this is trivial, but the fact that at least 2 of the cards have typos is not. Several cards have had the astrological symbols change from the old deck. But the book still lists the old ones. So I don't know which is supposed to be correct. If you don't care about the astrological symbols, want to trim the front cover yourself and keep the cards in a bag....it's alovely deck with great art. Otherwise search for the 1988 printing, it is superior in every regard.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deep and inspiring, Mar 1 2002
This review is from: The Elemental Tarot (Paperback)
I hated this deck when I first got it. But like most things you dislike at first glance, it had an enormous amount to teach me. I use these cards more for meditation than every day reading, because sometimes the images pull from so deep within me, it's almost too much to take. I highly reccomend this deck/book for more advanced students of Tarot. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is that some of the interperetations are so divergent from traditional meanings that for someone who is already very familiar with tarot (maybe it's just me) they can produce confused/contradictory divinations.
