About the Author

Carol Aebersold is the co-author of The Elf on the Shelf®: A Christmas Tradition and the sequel, launching this season: The Elf on the Shelf®: A Birthday Tradition. She is also the mother of Christa Pitts and Chanda Bell, the twin CEOs of CCA and B (Creatively Classic Activities and Books), the publishing company Aebersold founded with her daughters. To many children (and many of her employees), Aebersold is nothing less than a direct line to Santa—and that is especially clear during the holiday season, when she travels for as much as 8 weeks to do as many as 100 events in support of The Elf on the Shelf®. Chanda Bell is one of the true visionaries behind the beloved holiday brand, The Elf on the Shelf®. A former reading and English teacher, Bell is the co-author (with her mom, Carol) of The Elf on the Shelf®: A Christmas Tradition and the new sequel, The Elf on the Shelf®: A Birthday Tradition. At CCA and B, the company Bell co-founded with her twin sister, Christa Pitts, and her mom, Bell leads the creative side of the business, cultivating a careful focus on products and traditions that create meaningful family moments.

Awesome! Helped with a misbehaving 5 year old leading up to Christmas! The Elf on the shelf will be a part of our Christmas tradition for many years to come!

My kids absolutely love their elf. They get so excited in the morning to see where he has moved. You can get creative with your elf too(ex. had him roasting a marshmallow over an unlit candle). The only negative thing I have to say is that this is extremely over priced for what you get

Our Elf's name is Elliot. He shows up near the end of November every year. Not only is it great fun but mention Elliot's name once when my five year old is acting up, the bad behavior changes instantaneously (he reports back to Santa every night). I love it so much that I went out and told my friends with kids about it and their own Elf showed up!

Younger kids do love the story and looking for the elf, but the price is ridiculous and so is the fact the elf body is very cheap quality and the girl elf does not come with a skirt as shown in the book. In small print on the box is says "skirt sold separately" but I didn't notice this when purchasing and as the elf is sitting cross-legged I assumed the skirt just wasn't showing. Honestly, how cheap can you get? A crazy example of commercialization of 'tradition.' I bought this on a whim but wouldn't recommend it.

The quality of the doll isn't great and the story lacks imagination but it's enough to get the kids very excited. After all, it's about what you do with the doll when it arrives. The kids (and yourself) will have a lot of fun discovering what the elf has gotten up to every night while they sleep. You could probably buy a cheaper doll or get a better quality one and still have the same fun but the book and having it delivered from "the North Pole" adds something to the experience.

Did not arrive as advertised. The elf toy was not included with the book but the product description said it was.

I loved it so much I bought several for all the grandchildren and to see the look on their faces every morning looking for the elf was priceless. Every child should have one!

Love the idea and the product its self....but disappointed in the quality of the Elf. The book had amazingly think pages and will be read and re-read for years to come, but it is too bad the same can't be said for the Elf. Yes, it is partially my fault for leaving it until the last min. Receiving and opening the package on November 30th. But I was not expecting to find an Elf with stuffing coming out of where his knee was supposed to be sewed up. Needless to say I did not have to to return it, so instead tried my best with a needle and tried to sew poor Mr.Elf now know as "Peppermint" back into proper spying order. Thank goodness its hands off for the kiddies or he'd never last through the season.
For the price I paid very disappointed in the quality of the product I was provided with.
