5.0 out of 5 stars Compassionate, Strong, Insightful Look at the Schizoid Condition, Mar 23 2012
By Passionate Therapist - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Empty Core: An Object Relations Approach to Psychotherapy of the Schizoid Personality (Hardcover)
I am sad to find out that the author passed about a year ago. Few therapists seem to understand the schizoid condition as well as Dr Seinfeld. This work may be genius or only near genius, but it is certainly courageous. The author is willing to go to very dark places and stay there with a client. It is clear that the author gave his all to the work, and how that is helpful to the reader is that it is real encouragement to roll up our sleeves and fight for real substantive change in emotional functioning. It is not quick, and not easy, but it can be done.

There also is an immense amount of insight about the practical use of object relations therapy. The orientation is, however, as usual for most therapy, all above the neck. For something different try Alexander Lowen's The Betrayal of the Body
