Product Description

Review

Again Mr. Nathan has given us a charming modern fairy tale. Perhaps some will call it a satiric fantasy, but to this reviewer it is compounded of delicate fancy playing around three characters who never were on land or sea, or star dust realism which makes us delight in something we know is not so, but principally, of urbane and musical prose which soothes the ear, even while it is tickling the fancy.Boston Transcript

5.0 out of 5 stars THE ENCHANTED VOYAGE, April 3 2008
By Claude L. Ross - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Enchanted Voyage (Hardcover)
If you like any of Robert Nathan's books, you will love this book. It is so good that a movie "Wake Up And Dream" was made in 1946 based on this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Modern fairy tale, Aug 29 2005
By Bomojaz - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Enchanted Voyage (Hardcover)
A typical Nathan fantasy that involves a Mr. Hector Pecket, who has a boat in his backyard in the Bronx, upon which he sits and imagines he's a sailor. His wife sells the boat behind his back and puts wheels on it to move it. Suddenly the boat begins "sailing" down the street with Peckett on it. Along the way he picks up a lonely woman and a man - they, of course, fall in love. It's a modern fairy tale about fate and doing rather than just dreaming, but Nathan stretches the story out too long; it loses its effectiveness and punch.
