5.0 out of 5 stars Correction to Reader from Texas Nov. 17 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Reader from Texas must be thinking of a different caterpillar book. This Eric Carle Classic has a caterpillar hatching, eating each day through a successive number of pieces of fruit (teaching counting up to five and the days of the week). The caterpillar goes into a cocoon (sic) and hatches into a beautiful butterfly. I've read this book 100s of times to my children, who love it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I ordered Dec 17 2013
By Penna Girl - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
The description said this was a hardcover book. I expected to get the larger hardcover book and instead was sent a tiny board book. I could have purchased the board book locally for $7... Sent complaint to the Bluebird Book & Gifts® which was the vendor and did not get a response. Will not order from Bluebird Book and Gifts again...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Very Hungry Caterpillar an early childhood favorite Sept. 10 2010
By Aundrea Boyd - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
The Very Hungry caterpillar is an excellent book for children, not only does it help teach the basic skills of reading, but it also makes connections with other educational areas. The Very Hungry Caterpillar teaches children the days of the week, nutrition and also the life cycle of a butterfly. This book allows teachers to focus on different thematic ideas while using the same book.

5.0 out of 5 stars small Sept. 22 2011
By viv76 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Be careful of what version you buy. I did not realize this book came in a mini-version ... not what I wanted ... should have checked the dimensions before I purchased ... The mini-book has a list price of $5.99 on the book, which is a lot less than what I paid.

Update 06/02/2012:
Changing my rating from 2 starts to 5 stars. After all ... it was my mistake. The book I received was a mini-mini version (like ... really small). At the time I had contacted the seller (booksco_wa) about receiving the wrong product, and they gave me a refund without hassle. In summary, just read the specifications before you purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves this book!!!! April 6 2011
By A. Langston - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
My mother purchased this book for my 3.5 year old daughter at Kohl's department store, along with a stuffed caterpillar for $5 each. We have read this book to her several times a day since. I love the story. It is simple to understand, even for the youngest of children. I laugh because when we get the the "salami" my daughter insists that it is a cheeseburger and the "small house" is actually a "big house". I read it the way she wishes and we are happy with that. It is an amazing classic book that is colorfully illustrated.
