1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Video Ever, July 11 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Art of Exotic Dancing for Everyday Women (DVD)
I regret buying this video. It does not really teach you anything. This video looks more like a documentary b/c throughout the video you only see people talking about themselves and their problems. The instructor keeps repeating stuff so by the end of the workout, you only learn how to do a hip circle. Don't waste your money on this video.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid basics for total beginners., Jun 28 2004

This video uses real people who've taken the class, and for each dance move that is taught, you get to see every student trying it one at a time and telling what helped them and what challenged them, which I found to be very helpful.

It's tough at first, especially for someone like me who took three months of tai chi just so I could stop stubbing my toes on furniture ten times a day. There's the walk, then three types of hip rolls, and then floor work. At the end, you come away with one full choreographed routine.

Unlike other reviewers, I do find it to be a bit of a workout - not cardio, but similar to tai chi - lots of balancing and muscle strength-type work.

Of course, as the other reviewers say, if you already consider yourself to be a good dancer, it's probably too basic for you - but I CANNOT DANCE, so it's great for me. If you're looking for fun, low-key exercise that could help make you feel good about yourself, consider investing.

1.0 out of 5 stars WORST VIDEO I HAVE EVER BOUGHT!!!!, Feb 25 2004

This DVD is a joke. The dancer performs quick skits without offering any valuable instruction. In addition, there is a lot of downtime and the video is very short. The skits are outdated and her moves are not impressive. This isn't even good enough to be called Stripping 101, and I am saying this as a someone who is not a professional stripper. Please don't waste your time and money. You'll be sorry!
