I've been on her plan for a week and lost 6lbs! The book is a really good read too-full of science stuff and explains how your metabolism works. If u have more than 20 lbs to lose you'll be eating a lot of food! She claims the more u need to lose the more u need to eat. It's working so far for me! Get used to drinking a ton of water and cooking a lot. If you plan ahead you'll be cooking less. U just need to make bigger portions so u can eat the leftovers the next day or freeze them for later. She encourages uses your crockpot and making a large portion. It takes some getting used to but after a week it's easy:)

I started this diet only 5 days ago, but I love it. I have already lost 6 lbs. It really is very easy to follow the plan and it's pretty straight forward. The recipies are so yummy and easy to make. Honestly, it's just a plan for how we should already be eating, but in a specific way, on specific days so your metabolism really gets burning. For those of us who need help with learning how to eat properly, this book is great! People have said in other reviews that you don't need to buy this book to eat healthy. "Just eat healthy and exercise", they say. I'm tired of people who think it's soooo easy to do. This book is for those of us whom is not so easy and I totally recommend it!!

P.S. I took Haylie's suggestion and had a cooking day. I made the Turkey Chili and the Chicken & Veggie Soup. I froze each serving in single freezer tupperwares and marked which phase they were for. It makes it so much easier, especially if you are a busy person! :o)

I saw the ad in a magazine for this book and i was skeptical about purchasing it, but went ahead and did so. the book is an easy read and very informative and educational. i like the way Haylie adds her little "geek" descriptions. i learned so many things about the various organs in our body and how they work and it all makes sense.

i am on my 3rd month on this program and i have already lost 23 lbs. it took me a couple of days to get adjusted to the variety of foods and the way of eating, but once you master it and plan it out, (which is key to the success of this program) its a breeze. the recipes are awesome. i have shared them with my friends and they loved them.

i was recently away on a business trip for a week and tried to eat properly and follow the program, but that didn't go to well. i not only felt awful, i gained two pounds. when i returned home, i went back on the program and lost the weight i gained and i feel great!

this is a book that i will keep and will refer to in the future. totally recommend it

This is indeed a well-thought out and well-researched method of weight loss. It doesn't deprive you of any food groups but "cycles" you through 3 phases in a week which keep your body "confused" so weight and fat loss continues. And it works for everyone! The eating plan "fixes" your metabolism so that it chugs along as it is meant to and burns those fat storages we all wish to get rid of. However, to succeed on this plan you must follow all the rules for 28 days straight with no "cheats" along the way. This plan will help you lose weight unless you play around with the rules and phases. It takes a little while to get used to it, however, especially if you don't think you can survive without wheat, sugar or dairy for 28 days. I've lost 25 pounds in the last four weeks without hunger pangs or feeling deprived. Great eating plan!

Go on the forums to find out that the 1st edition has numerous corrections in the recipes in quantities of ingredients as well as portions & what constitutes a complete meal . That being said , the recipes are great & you get a lot of food ..just go on the blog so that you know the updates

I just finished week 3 of the Fast Metabolism Diet and it works. CAVEAT: it's not as rapid as claimed. First week is 5lbs (mostly water that will come back on the minute you eat wheat), then it's a steady 1lb/week - which is a healthy amount to lose. The 7 lbs I lost is very noticeable (down a pant size).

Likes:

1) LOVE the rotating schedule. You don't get bored. The only annoying phase is phase two, but it's only for two days - completely manageable. For 5 days a week you get to eat legit yummy food (bread /wraps, pasta, mangos, pineapple, almond butter, guacamole, hummus, coconut curry. Good stuff!)
2) I don't have cravings for 5 of the 7 days (phase two I crave sugar).
3) I've discovered Xylitol, which in my opinion tastes better than Stevia. It's pretty darn close to regular sugar - I'll be making a permanent switch even when the diet is done.
4) It feels good to know I'm feeding my kids organic. My family will try to continue this habit when the diet is done.

The Bad:
1) It's sooo expensive to go organic
2) The preparation is very time consuming. You have to plan ahead.
3) There are errors on the suggested meal maps (food missing), so you have to cross reference with the Master Blank Meal Map to make sure you're getting all the food you are suppose to eat.
4) I miss coffee. There is just something comforting about having that nice warm cup in your hand. (And the initial withdrawal SUCKS - quit 3 days ahead of starting the diet so you can pop tylenol).

Overall, I highly recommend this diet (with the caveat that realistically you'll lose 8-10lbs, not 20. Still good for 1 month). For maintenance, I plan to do the 4-week cycle once every January as a metabolism reboot.
