Gr 1-5-This series introduces students to different places, cultures, and folklore. In The Feather in Your Heart, listeners are taken to India and Persia with storyteller Andrew Harvey. He reminisces about a childhood in India, introduces the Taj Mahal and the story behind it, tells some of the trickster tales of Nasruddin and several stories from Rumi, and presents several other learning tales. The longest story, "The Birds Who Flew Beyond Time," is a mystic quest. In it, the birds of the world go on a journey to warn the Creator that the Earth is in danger. It is similar to an avian Pilgrims Progress as they travel through places like the Valley of Despair and face trials that test their character. The theme throughout this collection is that listeners should seek the "feather in their hearts"--the most precious thing to them that will give them strength and courage and transform their lives. These strong moral tales each present a lesson. The storytelling is good, and the original background music suits the tales well. An excellent collection.-Teresa Bateman, Brigadoon Elementary School, Federal Way, WA
