Book Description

April 15 2002 House of Winslow (Book 28)
When tragedy leaves Joy Winslow and her brother homeless and separated in drought-stricken North Dakota, Joy is forced to ride the rails to find him. A handsome young performer named Trace Gallagher rescues her from dangerous vagrants, and together they take jobs in a circus. Joy finds her niche performing with the big cats, but she still desires to help her brother, whom she has learned was falsely imprisoned in Mexico. Torn by love for family, Trace, and her career, and a desire for revenge on those who wronged her, Joy must above all find peace in her own heart.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great story despite a poor ending Feb. 3 2006
By Anna M. Vandenhazel - Published on
While this is not my favorite House of Winslow story, it's still a good story overall. Joy and Travis lose their parents and younger sister and are forced to live with their selfish uncle who mistreats them and steals their inheritance. Eventually Travis leaves, and Joy goes looking for him. Along the way a circus performer named Chase saves her from unsavory characters, eventually they return to the circus and Chase trains Joy to work with lions and tigers.

My one complaint is that the story cuts off suddenly at the end, leaving the feeling that there should have been more.

I appreciated the colorful personalities of the characters! I loved the excitement & danger going on throughout the story- I couldn't turn the pages fast enough! My favorite, though, was the way God's message of love & forgiveness was woven throughout the story. Read it for yourself!
