Book Description

Feb 2 2010
The bestselling author of The Forensic Science of C.S.I. examines the real-life cases behind the hit television series Criminal Minds

Week after week, the hit TV show Criminal Minds gives viewers a look inside the psyches of the fictional serial killers tracked by the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit). This elite team of FBI agents travels the country assisting law enforcement officials by examining the crime scene, "profiling" the perpetrator, and aiding in arrest and interrogation. In this book Katherine Ramsland reveals how reality differs from fiction and how forensic psychologists actually use their knowledge of human behavior and motivations as consultants in criminal investigations-as well as detailing the real cases that influenced some of Criminal Minds's most memorable episodes.

Well written, loads of information of how a criminal's mind or their crimes are disected. The ongoing references to the "Criminal Minds" television show is great. Since I watch the TV show whenever I can, the book and the CM cases meld very well together. Can't wait to read more from this author.

I found this book to be very informative and interesting. The author previously worked with John Douglas. If you are interested in criminal psychology, and like Douglas, you should like this book even if you are not a fan of criminal minds.

3.0 out of 5 stars Forced Reading April 17 2011
By James J. Pecora - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'm not impressed with the writing quality or content because it fails, in my opinion to reveal the causes of the criminal mind. Instead, it delves into the technical and intellectual theories most often espoused by professor types who believe the more obfuscation they can incorporate in their speech or writings, the more it will impress the listener or reader. In the end, halfway through this tragic attempt to make sense out of a very serious subject, it has become a forced read just to see what the conclusions may be. Take my word for it. If you are looking to obtain some clear cut knowledge as to why and what happens inside a "criminal mind," this book won't satisfy your curiosity.
