5.0 out of 5 stars A Firm Foundation for a Rocky Situation May 29 2012
By Ahsante Masango - Published on Amazon.com
This book is a 'must have' for anyone considering a divorce, or who has already begun the process. It provides insight and clear strategies for proceeding with your own divorce.
Divorce can be a very painful situation; the author deals with the emotional issues involved with compassion, and also a no-nonsense attitude regarding protecting yourself, your children and property, should your spouse show hostility or violence when faced with the divorce. Her discussions detailing how to prepare, and what to expect are reassuring.
She comes across as a compassionate and competent attorney, and also prepared to 'go to the mat' in your defense.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well organized and very helpful March 23 2011

Having been separated/divorced now for about 7 years, I wish I had this book at the start of it all. My ex-husband and I had a fairly amicable parting, but the pain and confusion at the beginning, especially when children are involved, is huge and the more solid resources one has the better! This book is very well organized and provides a very clear explanation of what to consider when choosing an approach. I've come across it as our children have gotten older and we realized we failed to make considerations in our agreement. We failed to anticipate how the needs of our children would change so dynamically as they got older. This book helped us tremendously.

5.0 out of 5 stars Survival Book Oct. 11 2013
By Survivor - Published on Amazon.com
Rachel's book is just what the doctor ordered. She opens the closed doors and shows one the light to a brighter future. Divorce is not easy and I am at the beginning of a long process...but her book gives me my bearings on what to do next and how to navigate through a very difficult journey. Thank you Rachel for your frankness and professional guidance.

5.0 out of 5 stars OMG Helpful! April 13 2013
By DebL - Published on Amazon.com
This book helped me to really think through all the questions that truly needed to be asked, and to understand all the myriad of detail that was needing to be resolved, so that I could move on with my life. As someone who is all about "organization", and who wants to be sure I do indeed cover just everything that needs to be covered, I found the questions in Chapter 8 (What Exactly has to be Resolved), and the charts in Appendix 2 extremely helpful. While I am still at a place where I find it difficult to be civil to my ex, this book does help keep me focused on getting through everything in a practical way and moving towards a better future for all of us (me and the kids...who cares about the ex!). Really liked the author's no-nonsense approach to getting on with things, getting over resentments and the blame game, and focusing on what the future can be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Read Jan. 7 2013

When the decision was made to end our marriage this book was a useful reference for both of us. A friend also used mediation in Virginia and me in Georgia. What the book didn't mention is how the state legal systems are ridiculously price with attorney’s price gouging in Virginia creating useless volumes in a decree at $350 an hour in Virginia compared to a Georgia divorce, straight forward and no games. Unfortunately, one cannot shop for the cheapest state to be divorced in.
