“How is it that more people are on statin drugs and aggressive pharmaceutical interventions than ever before and yet cardiovascular disease remains one of the most pervasive killers in Western society? The authors present the real causes of heart disease and practical solutions to both preventing and treating it.” - Robb Wolf, best-selling author of The Paleo Solution
“The Great Cholesterol Myth finally sheds light on the true story, why millions are being harmed by statin drugs and how to really prevent heart disease. Everyone with heart disease, on a statin, or with a family history of heart disease must read this book. And if your doctor recommends a statin, read this book first!” - Mark Hyman, M.D., best-selling author of The Blood Sugar Solution
“Increasingly, doctors are questioning assertions that cholesterol is responsible for arterial disease, and that effective management requires lowering of cholesterol levels, especially with statins. At the same time, the noxious properties of the latter are being appreciated. It is therefore timely that Bowden and Sinatra provide this very readable explanation of why they think the way they do. Many readers will be persuaded.” - Hywel Davies, M.D., F.R.C.P., F.A.C.P., F.A.C.C., former Chief of Cardiology at the Denver VA Hospital
“Jonny Bowden, along with Dr. Stephen Sinatra, demonstrates with compelling logic backed by scientific studies, that doctors are doing more harm than good by prescribing statins as if they were after-dinner mints, with the false hope that a lower cholesterol level will prevent heart disease when underlying inflammation and oxidative stress are the real root causes of heart disease.” - Todd LePine M.D., The UltraWellness Center

It seems that sooner or later pretty much everyone is going to have their doctor tell them they need to take statins. You would be well advised to prepare yourself in advance for an important conversation with your doctor about this.
This book explains the real causes of heart disease and the lifestyle changes you can and should make without taking drugs to live a long and healthy life. And for those already dealing with a variety of diseases, the things you can and should do starting immediately to better manage your situation.
I highly recommend this book as a tool to further educate yourself about he sorry state of nutrition in the western world and how you can take control of your life and your health. Let's face it, nobody cares as much about your own health as you do!
Good for someone being introduced to the theory that cholesterol is not a significant factor in the cause of heart disease.
For those who already agree with the theory and understand the concepts behind it there is almost nothing new here.
The book also goes into the whole saturated fat myth, and discusses the problems with edible oils such as corn, canola, soy, shortening and margarine.
I was looking for a book for a female friend who is taking statins, which are giving her horrible side effects, in an effort to convince her to come off the dangerous things. I wanted to read it before giving it to her, to make sure it was a good book. It really does cover all the bases.
Makes you wonder about statins and all the side effects.
Several people I know have completely come off statins. Their energy is better, they've lost weight, their blood pressure is lower and they have way less aches and pains (common side of effect of statins).
Our present lifestyle is certainly not conducive to having a healthy life. This book lays out why certain people get sick while others don't, why the mainstream recommendations from dieticians and our doctors are outdated and clearly don't work (just look at the state of our health today), etc
I can't say enough. Enjoy the read and start applying the information into your lifestyle.

I wish my doctor would read this book. But he won't, he would rather prescribe a statin drug. Very informative. It's about time our governments looked into the statin business.Published 2 months ago by klr4evr
