Book Description

Oct 2 2008
The story of the financial cataclysm that started with the Wall Street stock market crash of 1929 is told here, tracing how it set in motion a series of economic, political, and social events that affected many millions of people in America, Britain, Europe, and Australia. The Crash rolled across the world like a tidal wave, toppling governments, spreading the wave of dictatorships in Italy and Germany, infecting entire industries, and plunging millions into unemployment and poverty. By the time it began to lift in 1935, the lives of people in scores of countries had changed forever. Selwyn Parker’s book also poses the question Could it happen again?

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book July 15 2012
Format:Paperback
This book is quite an enjoyable read. I'm a fan and economics student and this book is a great interperation of the stock market crash and the other events that led to the Great Depression. Selwyn Parker analyzes the global economy during that period and discusses how their economies were affected. He also discusses the social elements and how the various different demograpics at the time were impacted. Selwyn also has gives a brief biography of the key characters involved that goes into depths at times.

My only complaint about this book is that he omits how the various economies made their ascent again and this leaves a feeling of lack of conclusion.

Overall this is a very good book that should be read by any interested party.
