1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By Sid Marty on May 4 2010
Format: Hardcover
"Gailus delivers a left hook to Parks Canada's bogus claims to put conservation ahead of tourist development, and gives a well deserved right cross to our cynical Alberta Government, which seems bent on letting grizzly bears blink out into oblivion. If you care about wild bears and wild lands, read this book."

' Sid Marty recently won the Grant MacEwan Literary Arts Award, Albert'a most prestigous writing prize. His latest book, Black Grizzly at Whiskey Creek, was a finalist for the Governor General's Literary Award.

revealing and thoughtful Jan. 29 2011

this excellent book informs the reader of the huge misconceptions that prevail - i visited Alberta (from Australia)last year with a self procalimed Grizzly freak from the USA (on a tour), who led me to believe that Alberta was doing it all so well and the US had multiple problems with protection and the future was grim - when the truth seems to be quite the reverse

A Must Read May 29 2010
By MaryAnne - Published on
Format: Hardcover
Not only is Jeff Gailus a gifted writer but he is dead on right when it comes to his observations and actions in working to save Alberta's dwindling grizzly bear population. The book is jam packed with current information and yet still flows like a thriller novel. He is open and honest in his handling of the issue. This book is for bear people, animal people, environmentalists, and readers who like an often suspenceful non-fiction read involving current events. With the current oil spill crisis in the Gulf on all of our minds and media - this book is a must read.

A very important and timely book May 31 2010
By Ylva - Published on
Format: Hardcover
This book is a fantastic mixture of Jeff's personal experiences with bears and bear conservation over the past 10 years, as well as detailed description of the dire state of grizzly bear populations in Alberta. It shatters the common belief that Canada is protecting its rich natural heritage in favor of short-term over exploitation of resources such as timber, oil and gas. I hope many people will read this book and that we will take Jeff's advise and start a revolution!
