This review is from: The Guardian The Final Season (DVD)
There is a t-shirt that reads: "Stage is life, motion pictures are art, and television is furniture". However, there are always the exceptions. "Beautiful Blue Mystic", an episode in this collection, is one of those gems of TV history. It is worth seeing even if "The Guardian" isn't your typical fare (although it helps to see a reasonable amount of the shows as the plot to this particular episode builds up from the others.Innovative, breath-taking, and mind-blowing are all adjectives that can be used to describe that particular episode. It's difficult to expound on it without giving a critical element away, but the bottomline is: If you are a fan of "The Guardian" this is the crown jewel of the series. If you are new to the series you will find the entire third season outstanding, but particularly come away from "Beautiful Blue Mystic" believing you have just seen one of the finest hours in television history. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful

Season 3 Writing was terrible!,
By manof4 - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Guardian The Final Season (DVD)
I got hooked on The Guardian on Netflix and loved the first two seasons, but Season 3 was just awful. The actors were all great and the production values were top notch, but the writing was so bad it just made you want to scream. The scenarios and plot lines were so outrageous and unbelievable and the continuity was almost nonexistent. The conflicts came across as engineered and forced, and the resolutions were disjointed and sloppy. It's too bad, because the cast was super and Simon Baker, Dabney Coleman, Alan Rosenberg and Wendy Moniz are stupendous actors. The script writing simply held them back and left their audience feeling frustrated and disappointed. The writers seemed to forget that audiences today are extremely savvy and knowledgeable. Television shows like "E.R.", "C.S.I.", "Law & Order", "Bones", and many other top-rated shows, really raised the bar and gave viewers greater expectations from legal and medical dramas. The writing for "The Guardian: Season 3" felt more like the product of a Jr. high school writing assignment rather than the product of professional writers. Buyers would be best to purchase only seasons 1 & 2, and stop there. Just imagine your own ending to the story and avoid wasting time with season 3. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful

I'm a total fan of this show and of Simon Baker. This final season is simply the must-have cap off to the series. Wish they had gone 10 more seasons.
