About the Author
William Hockin is author of Twelve Stories You and Your Children Need To Know. He studied theology at the College of Emmanuel and St. Chad in Saskatoon and arts at Waterloo Lutheran University. He was ordained priest in 1963. Having served as rector of St. Paul's Anglican Church in Toronto, and as dean of Christ Church Cathedral and coadjutor bishop in Fredericton, he is now Bishop of Fredericton.

A wonderful meditation,

This beautiful little book stirred me when I first read it. I reread it again recently, and I am riveted by the author's insight into the critical importance of having a a guiding story and metaphor to help us on our human journey. It is true, as the author says (p. 63) that there are multiple stories to choose from today, but those options only add to much angst for many. I align myself with the author's choice: the Bible, especially the New Testament, where the picture and story and values for our human journey are presented in vivid imagery and compelling narrative. The Gospel does it for me. It's my light and my hope.
