Watch out for the explosive press-on nails! Aug. 17 2007
By Bob Lind - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Jayms Blonde is a hunky, gay former US Navy Seal who is a hairdresser by trade but also the top secret agent for an international organization dedicated to protecting our planet from those who attack it through environmental terrorism. With his manicure assistant/significant other Precious Needmoore at his side, Jayms is summoned to twart the plans of the notorious Zaroya, head of ZENRON (Zealot Environmental Nazis Ruthlessly Obliterating Nature), who plans to plans to unleash agricultural genocide (killing the world's popcorn crop) while simultaneously starting a middle East war to help her Chinese scientific allies and hurt the chances for environmental legislation in the US. Armed with his trusty blow dryer (which shoots teflon bullets, and supplemented with exploding hair rollers and press-on nails), and able to zoom to any location with his agency's one-of-a-kind bumble-bee wings, Jayms is ready to "get rambunctious" to put an end to bad air (and bad hair, as long as he has his styling comb) to save the day!

Is it waaaaaay "over the top"? Duh, yeah! It's cartoonish on many levels, including literally (Most chapters have a scene illustrated by a cartoon panel that would be right at home in a Batman comic), and the dialogue is a overflowing well of camp, bad puns and more double entendres per page than I can count. But it's also a brilliant satire of the actual James Bond novels, complete with versions of the chief, the "gadget" guy, buffoonish villains and clueless CIA operatives. It's not great literature, nor a challenging mystery, but it is great fun and the perfect vacation read for someone who wants to put day to day realities on hold for a while. Five stars (and a bonus combover) out of five!

Format: Hardcover
It was so great to read a book that was funny and really different. James Blonde gives new meaning to "under cover agent". This book makes going green very sexy. It's packed full of one liners and it is a terrific book to share with friends.

A wacky wonderful adventure... Oct. 26 2009
By Robert McBride - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Cabell weaves a wacky wonderful adventure which is pure entertainment and fun. While Jaymes Blonde's sexual preferences and style do not coincide with my own, I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining book which is packed with humor and fun from beginning to end...
