Product Description

?Older middle school boys who have read their way through the Lorimer and Orca hockey series books should be directed toward The Hat Trick along with high school boys who think that novels have nothing to offer them. Highly Recommended.?

It's obvious Tom Earle's own experiences and a lifetime of playing and coaching hockey combine to this story an authentic feel. But it's the compassion and insight into the events that collide to derail Ricky Phillips' golden life that make this book a touching read for everyone ' hockey fan or not! It's a story about dealing with what life hands you, and learning to live ' and grow ' beyond those circumstances. The occasional minor curse words and authentic hockey slang will delight young readers and aspiring hockey stars. It's obvious that Mr. Earle's career as a teacher helped him package a serious message in a way teens and young adults can appreciate it. That doesn't mean to say adults won't enjoy the book too ' there's plenty of action and interesting twists to make it a great read for all ages! I have to admit...I've read it twice and got goose-bumps both times! Congratulations to Mr. Earle on his first novel...I hope there are more coming!

I think that this is a great book for anyone to read from age 10 to 100 Earle really used words to express the characters' feelings. What I disliked about this book was that they swore too much. Other than that it was a great book. If you liked this book there is only one other book that Earle wrote. That book is Home Ice Advantage. Home Ice Advantage: Imagine living inside one of Canada's most famous arenas... Jake is determined to be a hockey star, and he might just have what it takes. But mounting pressure at home is beginning to threaten his dreams. Jake leaves his quite suburban life for the bustling streets of downtown Toronto, where he seeks shelter in Maple Leaf Gardens.
