Book Description

Oct. 1 1984
“I pray that God forgive them...”

Corrie Ten Boom stood naked with her older sister Betsie, watching a concentration camp matron beating a prisoner. “Oh, the poor woman,” Corrie cried. “Yes. May God forgive her,” Betsie replied. And, once again, Corrie realized that it was for the souls of the brutal Nazi guards that her sister prayed.

Both woman had been sent to the camp for helping the Jews. Christ’s Spirit and words were their guide; it was His persecuted people they tried to save—at the risk of their own lives; it was His strength that sustained them through times of profound horror.

Here is a book aglow with the glory of God and the courage of a quiet Christian spinster whose life was transformed by it. A story of Christ’s message and the courage woman who listened and lived to pass it along—with joy and triumph!

5.0 out of 5 stars Courage amidst a nightmare June 11 2013
By JeromeC
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
The most hideous crime of the 20th Century had to be the Holocaust. It is a chronical of nightmares and perversion making a religion out of sadistic torture and a criminal philosophy.

Yet amidst this is the story of a few good people who said "No I will not let this go unopposed. I will stand by the values I have been taught and I will not compromise those values."

Such a person was Corrie ten Boom. This book is uplifting as well as being sad. It is sad that it was written and published. It is sad because the injustice is so obvious and yet people died because the injustice was so deeply intrenched in a society that allowed themselves to know no better.

Corrie ten Boom did know better and she says so. It gives her the right to talk about her Christianity and how she stood by its values without seeming to be a hollow voice. Her voice has depth and meaning. This is an old book well worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book April 24 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I have read this book several times, and it is always uplifting. I am always amazed at how some people rise above our basest instinct to survive, and instead give love and light to all around them, in spite of being in a terrible situation themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book April 22 2013
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
I read this book back when it first came out, and loved it then. Now more mature, I can truly appreciate the great faith and sacrifice the ten Boom family made. It is a truly inspiring read. Wish schools dared to carry such books in their literature classes.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the powerful stories I've ever read April 25 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is a powerful story of Corrie ten Boom's family. Staying focused on God and walk in the faith in God in the middle, and in the face of evil, Corrie and her family showed me that God could use us even in a dreadful situation unimaginable as long as we continue and determined to live by His standard. I was so inspired by this book, now I recommend everybody who is Christian and who are searching for faith to read it(In fact, I think anybody can get inspired by this book!).
