Product Description

The bride was beautiful. But it was her sister Marie who stood before all proclaiming her love and devotion and not Kaye. It had nothing to do with Marie’s intended, for she knew that they were perfect for one another, it was that Marie was marrying prior to Kaye. But Kaye, who had now reached her twenty-first year and the eldest of the three daughters, was now the only one that remained unwed with no prospects in sight. And that cut her deeply, for no one had ever claimed her! Is she that dreadful? That unlovable?

During her sister’s wedding reception she is suddenly thrown together with a proper English gentleman and one that is old enough to be her father! He is not outwardly handsome and could never stir her emotions but he has promised to marry her. Kaye did find him cordial and kind and if she put her mind to it she was certain she could love him, could she not? Was that not enough? For the fear of being alone had her quite frightened and she would stop at nothing to prevent those lonely ends!

But what of the very powerful and intimidating Scottish Highlander that was just across the room from her? He is so very different than his composed English counterparts and his ways so completely strange and quite unsettling. Kaye could feel the heat of warrior's gaze burning into her, once again sending unfamiliar shivers up her spine for she silently acknowledged he was exceptionally nice to look upon at a distance, but one that thoroughly and truly frightened her when he was near. Her heart skipped a beat, but was that for the fear and trepidation that he exhumed about him when he was near? It must be, for what else could it be?

1.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to read April 20 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
I found myself absorbed in the long sentences with too many descriptive adjectives and commas. Exclamation points should be left for conversation only. I was so focused on conventions that I couldn't get into the story. This was largely due to the fact that the main characters are weak. The heroine is portrayed as a dainty and proper English lass. She comes off as a sissy. The hero is formidable and imposing Highland warrior. Well, it is a highland romance novel, so of course there is a woman in need of resuce and a big strong champion. The author should come up with something about the main characters to spark some kind of interest. I didn't even care to finish the book.

1.0 out of 5 stars High price April 20 2013

$8.00. Really. It could be the greatest romance ever but I'm not willing to take the chance. Since when do we allow electronic books to cost more than print books by being foolish enough to pay the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fresh and Engaging May 19 2013

Format:Kindle Edition
After reading a couple hundred historical romances I can tell when something didn't come out of a can. The characters here actually engaged the reader. The story held up, and the amount of heat was just right. I like that it kept me guessing for a long time. I hate it when I know the ending after a few chapters.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Story June 17 2013
By Kathy - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book had to be written by a five year old. The repetition and drawn out sorrow for the most dumbest, sappiest heroine ever created, is awful. But the worst thing about the book is the author who obviously thinks of her readers as being immature middle school kids. Cut, copy and paste, just like 50 Shades of Gray. Both of these authors should not give up their day jobs. To think a publishing company actually bought these books.... where has honor and integrity gone (did anyone even read this garbage?)!! I am going for the refund!!!
