Fascinating, Provocative, Evocative,
By
This review is from: The Hiram Key: Pharaohs, Freemasonry, and the Discovery of the Secret Scrolls of Jesus (Paperback)
I knew nothing of Freemasonry before reading this book; I can't even remember what prompted me to read it in the first place. But no matter, because it is a fascinating piece of archaeological mystery writing. The authors seek to discover the origin of masonic ritual; and along the way the reader learns about the birth of middle eastern civilization with the Sumerians, the nature of king-making in ancient Egypt, the origin of the Jewish people, a very alternative (and provocative) description of the nature of Jesus's ministry, and the construction of what has become Christianity by the earliest Roman Christians. This book does not seem to be meant to promote freemasonry, so you won't be pummeled with masonic text. The function of the masonic text and ritual in this book is to tie together aspects of mid-eastern history and archaeology (and relevant portions of Celtic British Isles history) in a unique way.

This review is from: The Hiram Key: Pharaohs, Freemasonry, and the Discovery of the Secret Scrolls of Jesus (Paperback)
I have read the other reviews, and what I see seems to be a partisan split right down the line. I see statements by christians/jews pretending to be simple historians (like those guys who claimed they were atheists, went out to disprove the bible, and converted to christianity- they were christians from the get-go.), statements refering to "new testament scholarship"; What is that? (That's like being an Alice in Wonderland scholar...because both are fairy tales), and finally I see statements by those who say they are actual Freemasons. Now, I am no rube, and I have extensive knowledge of the practices of such organizations. One of the reviewers claimed that the true secrets of Freemasonry can not be related via writing or speaking them...now, is it really necessary for me to state the obvious absurdity of this statement? As for the blatant denials by the self-avowed christian reviewers, they as always, can be thrown out the window. I have never met a christian who could not read a sentence two or ten different ways until that sentence proved what he wanted it to...using their famous circular logic. Facts be damned, if it's not in the bible...which is itself a terribly edited work of fiction and pseudohistory (read council of Nicaea and our good friend Constantine who never bothered converting to this strange christ cult himself...even though he made it the state religion- hmmm, wonder why), then it can't be accurate. You know the mentality, and it must be answered thusly: ANSWER A FOOL BY HIS FOLLY. I have some bad news for you: If you call yourself a historian and use the bible as an actual historical document, then you are not a real historian. It's THAT simple. You are no different than anybody who is already biased and prepared to promote their view regardless of what the evidence bears out. These two guys, knight and lomas are reminiscent of bauval and ALL OF THEM have serious detractors even though the evidence hard or soft is more in line with THEIR presentation than the accepted garbage we were taught in school. Bauval asserts that the erosion of the sphynx is obviously from water and experts agree, while a lot of egyptologists see his statement as invalidating their entire lives of researching the "accepted avenues". Of course, instead of admitting that they were blind, they attack the real scholars. Just about every one of the major biblical events is predated by 1,000 years or more by an exact event from another civilization- Mithras, Sargon, Osirian resurrection, virgin births (buddha from Maya), etc. Now, if you think this is a coincidence, you need to wake up. I always find it fascinating how new facts on ancient subjects and information are looked at as trickery- anything that seems unexplainable is the work of some hoaxers (crop circles for example. two guys came out and admitted they made some circles, now ALL circles are fake...even though there are accounts of crop circles dating back to the 1600s and earlier. These two guys must be very old, yes?). The information I read in this book is presented by investigators using their own findings, not using the "ok'd", "acceptable", or "usual" sources or explanations. The reason they were able to come to the conclusions they have, is because they were not afraid of finding out the truth. NO biblical scholar or particular The voices of dissent I read here, are the voices of FEAR. The assertion is that there is no bibliography needs to be addressed. If it's too hard for the reader to actually look at the footnotes and do a search for the reference materials, then that particular reader has no business reading in the first place. Good work you two. Aum Namah Sivaya

The Hiram Key,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Hiram Key: Pharaohs, Freemasonry, and the Discovery of the Secret Scrolls of Jesus (Paperback)
Great book to get the imagination going. Interesting information that will make you read other books to see if they got it right. You will never see old architecture the same again. Everywhere you look, you'll see signs of the Freemasons all around.
