Product Description

From Amazon

The Thomas à Kempis fan club includes St. Ignatius, Thomas Merton, Thomas More, and even Agatha Christie's Miss Marple. (She reads a chapter of The Imitation of Christ every night before sleep.) Imitation has exerted immense influence on Christian worship, ethics, and church structure, because it gives specific yet broad-minded guidance about the central task of Christian life--learning to live like Jesus. Better to read this book a little here and there, now and then, than to try gobbling it cover to cover. Imitation is no triumph of orderly thinking, but it's a great monument and incentive to deep living. --Michael Joseph Gross --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Book Description

This classic, second only to the Bible for religious instruction and inspiration, has brought understanding and comfort to millions for centuries. Written in a candid and conversational style, the topics include liberation from worldly inclinations, preparation and consolations of prayer, and the place of eucharistic communion in a devout life.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome, Jan 20 2004
I read this book perhaps more frequently than any other book. Quintessential Christian reading. Following Christ isn't just about joy. We are called to deny ourselves daily, and to carry our crosses. More than console, this book calls us to imitate Christ, to do the real tough work of living in humility and obedience. It is beautiful, passionate, powerful, and challenging. Read it.

Great read for anybody of faith. The book uplifts the message of Christ and is good for people looking for simplicity or strengthening of their faith. The thing i want to point out is that this version was a lot easier to read than other versions. If you are going to buy this book, i would recommend this version.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the true seekers of self-perfection, Oct 9 2010
This review is from: The Imitation of Christ (Paperback)
It is rather difficult to describe this book... How could one describe something of divine nature, or divine inspiration? Regardless the religion, age or life experience this book has an answer to any possible dilemma in one's life, and it is especially relevant to those who have chosen the path to self perfection. Its beauty and spiritual value are truly revealed only when one starts practicing it. Each chapter is a jewel, has it sown message and somewhat independence. The entire book is simply and beautifully written. Its subtle yet strong message pierces the heart of the reader, and impacts his (or her) consciousness... This is one book that I would take with me in heaven. Or in the inferno... and everywhere else in between. Inverencial peace.
